Well here we are a new week, and fresh start to the show after a week off.

This week I'm doing local urban myths/legends, so post what you guys have from your locale. I'll bump with mine, being from Virginia we have a bunch of odd occurrences with all the military bases, old history and buildings, etc etc etc...

the link for the show this week is as follows
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fdo9P5mQAPY

As always the show goes LIVE Satruday at midnight, pre show starts at 11:45

Stay awesome /x/, and keep coming. We're growing slowly thanks to you guys, Once I hit a certain arbitrary amount of subscribers I can give away a book I found at a thrift store. Mysteries of Time or some shit like that.

AND MAYBE someone can help me. There's a town in Virginia that was once a coal mining town, almost void of human life except a few hundred now. BUT THE CATCH IS the veil between our reality and the next is so thin you can travel through it. I don't believe it, but it is near me so hey.

I live about 5 minutes away from Bray Road.

Never really believed any of the stories. But it's generally regarded as pretty spoopy. Can personally confirm the road is creepy as fuck at night and in the fog, though.

Melonheads! This myth started wayyy back when birth defects were clearly demon possession, But I'll tell the story as my dad told it to me, then tell the actual story.

>Melon Heads were babies cut out of chicks while they slept
>kidneys in vegas deal
>wake up, no baby
>Guy would take unborn fetus and grow them in pods
>Something in his math was wrong, their heads got weird
>Babies matured
>babies were around 14
>see themselves for the first time
>kill doctor
>Live on rats for the rest of their lives, never allow anyone near the facility

Apparently if you get close to the facility (which the internet tells you is in 'michigan ohio' but it's in chardon) Someone will shoot at you. My dad tells this crazy story about how he took my mom, his friend and her friend out on a date to urbex the place and got a slug through the legs two inches away from his nuts as they were running back to the car.

Real story is, There was a kid on the road that the "facility" is on (facility is actually just an old barn) with Hydrocephalus. Him and his friends would hide in the bushes as cars came 'round the corner of the road then jump out and scare drivers or throw rocks and sticks (not uncommon... my aunt did it a lot, too) but then he died because kids hydrocephalus don't live very long.

Everyone thought birth defects like hydrocephalus were like, mutations or demon possession or some shit. Not a clearly logical biological anomaly that happened because of one's gene pool.

We have a "midgetville" here too, just south of painsville I think. Everyone thinks it's because a circus shut down here and the midgets just decided to live in their tiny, kid-sized display houses but... It's just a carpenter who bought a piece of land and built some stuff that is tiny. Nobody actually lives there. There's not even a midget living in painsville city limits lmao, I don't even think there's one in the county.

We also have the Grass Man. Heresay is he lives in the cuyahoga valley region, aroung like 8 feet tall and 300 pounds, BASICALLY the grass version of bigfoot.

My dad (cryptid specialist as he is, don't you know?) said that when he was a kid they launched police investigations of the marsh/swamp where grassman lived, and it scared him so grassman came up into the city and laid in his friend's devil's strip while he was mowing the lawn. The friend nicked the grassman's foot with the lawnmower, and grassman sprang up and broke his arm then threw him into the street. (he obviously then ran away)

It's not really an urban myth, but it's still quite mysterious.

Not far from where I live, a plane crashed into a building in 1992. Not too long after the crash, men in austronaut suits scanned the place, looking for something. The government never told who they were or what they were doing, even their prescence is denied.

There are a lot of story's I heard. Growing up in up state NY. One of the story's was about a farmer who killed people and buried there body's up to there necks. And
put potato sacks on there heads apparently after he was caught people would see orbs of light floating over the road. And a lot of kids use to go in to the corn field to drink and they would see the orbs floting around. There was also a road called dike road and dead bodies would be found there and people would claim to see UFOs.

Here's one from Toronto. Please excuse the way I word this because I can't weave this into a story like narrative. I'm only telling it to you how I recalled it was told to me. So it's relatively common knowledge around here that there is an urban legend about underground tunnels going all over Toronto. What is very wishy washy is what is in those tunnels. A buddy of mine who dabbles in urban exploring once found an entrance to these tunnels on College street. I don't know the exact intersection and he's very secretive about where it is. What he found in these tunnels was a bunch of people just standing still and staring at them, not letting them go any further. He was freaked the fuck out and bolted. The guy said they were some of the Bloodmen of Toronto. There are supposedly 3 entrances to these tunnels. One on College street, One under the Huron House, and I honestly forgot the third one. The Huron house has no entrance so you can scratch that off the list, but aside from that there are two other locations. Sorry I couldn't give more info but maybe someone else knows

don't know if this is a myth as much as serious consideration, but in Tucson, AZ, while digging a park, the builders came across a massive indian burial ground. It wasn't the first, but it was massive nonetheless, and it came right up to the road. It's incredibly likely that the road has bodies under it, but the real question is how many. This wasn't the first burial ground found in our area, but it was one of the biggest. It's kind of scary when you think about it. I live in an area that was completely uncharted until the last hundred years or so, and even so it's mostly just open dirt. I've climbed the mountain next to my house and found a grave dug near the top. wooden cross and rocks covering the body, looked over a hundred years old, but im no archeologist, it could have been some kids playing a prank, but the majestic and melancholy location of the grave suggested otherwise. Even after the native americans were kicked out of their land, many, many people died fighting in the wild west and who knows where the hell they were buried. A friend of mine told me that when she was young (appx 10) she was digging in her backyard for lack of anything interesting to do when she came across a concrete box. Believing she had unearthed treasure, she quickly pulled open the top. A lot of dust blew out of it and what was left was a tiny dress and a pair of shoes, probably meant for someone younger than 4 years old. The dress blew across her yard and into the tree next to her house. She quickly burried the box and said nothing to her parents, but the dress stayed in her tree until she was in highschool. She told me she couldn't bring herself to move it, and the day it finally blew away she was incredibly relieved to have it gone. This wasn't a myth or urban legend btw, I saw the dress in her tree. Something about it still sends shivers down my spine when I think about it.
>>
>>15100990
it should probably be mentioned that when she unearthed the box, the dust blew right in her face. She took several showers that day.

another one from this area, a friend of mine who is into running marathons and ragnar said he was with 3 other mutual friends running through the desert at midnight. It was a full moon so there was quite a bit of visibility. I don't know if any of you have been in the desert at night with a full moon, but it's pretty amazing. Everything is black and white and you can clearly make out everything in your path, even animals (and there are quite a few at night). That said, Tucson is also home to tons of observatories due to the incredible visibility of the night sky from lack of light pollution. You can see way more stars than you would believe. They were running for a while when they came across a place in the desert they had never been. Up until that point they had been having quite a bit of fun, but then they noticed something so dreadfully out of the ordinary that they stopped in their tracks. In the middle of this desert area was a single dead tree and all around it in a perfect ring, the plants were dead. Now understand this, many plants in the desert have evolved to look like they are dead to protect themselves from animals seeking healthy plants, so after a while living here, you can make out which plants are really dead and which just look dead. These ones were completely dead. You should know the man telling the story was not a superstitious man, but he said a feeling of dread like nothing he had ever seen washed over him and apparently everyone else he was running with, because within seconds they were sprinting as fast as they could in the direction they came.

As someone who heard this story first hand and did not actually experience it, I would believe that the tree was struck by lightning, and that he just spooked himself due to the moonlight, but what I really don't understand is how they all became so mortally terrified, without speaking a word to each other, that they all sprinted as though their life depended on it.

where my mom is from in northern mexico there is this place called copper canyon. Copper canyons is a vast network of heavily wooded valleys and cliffs. The people in this area are very independent and very tough. And each small town usually handles its own problems. Where my mom was from the local problem was a monster called la onsa. Now people speculate the onsa could be a number of things. A demon, the devil, or more likely a huge cougar. Either way la onsa loved to prey on little kids all day or night. This became a huge issue and a hunting party was formed. SO like 10 armed men went out looking for this creature. Only one makes it back. He said when they followed monster paw prints for 3 days. Then they lost the trail and go caught in a thunder storm. Luckily there was a large cave that they could hide in. At first everything was fine but then they started to hear noises. As they made their way deeper and deeper into the cave the noise abruptly stopped. At the end of one of the passages they were suddenly face with a pile of small bones and torn clothes. The children the onsa had been hunting from the area. A soon as they saw that they started running for the entrance but all hell broke loose, guns were fired and something huge and black attacked them. My mom says the man didn't remember much after that. He remember making to the exit and then jumping in a river. My mom went back a few times to check on relatives and she says the infanticide suddenly stopped. This leads me to believe it probably was one huge animal with a normal life span. Either fuck that story and everything about living in copper canyon chihuahua.

The desert has legit creepy places. I live in the New Mexico/El Paso Tx area and on a hike me and my dad found this weird oasis. Like in the middle of the mountain side. There was a stream and a huge oak tree. We sat by it and talked about life for like 2 hours. When we continued the hike we found out only like 30 minutes had gone by there and on the same exact path back we couldnt find it anymore.
>>
>>15100990
My friend and his dad found an ancient Spanish sword stuck into the mountain side by one of the only fresh water springs in like a 20 miles radius. Kinda of insane to know people lived and died in this exact spot.
>>
Around where I live (upstate NY) there's a street called Devils Lane. Story has it an abusive, alcoholic farmer who lived on the road one day had a cow wander away. He walked up the road to find it and came across the devil himself. He was so scared he ran home and never touched the drink or his wife again.

Less fable-y, we have a gorge nearby called Wolf Hollow. It's a really thin gorge that runs between two cliffs, and is kinda outta place geographically compared to the surrounding area. The story goes that a local Indian tribe raised a rival tribe's camp while the rival tribe was out hunting, and raped and murdered their wives and children. The rival tribe caught wind that they'd be returning through the gorge, and so lined up along both sides and as the offending tribe walked through rained down arrows upon them and slaughtered them.

So now there's this naturally creepy gorge that collects mist like no one's business, and added on to that is that it's a supposed Indian massacre ground. Also there are natural caves that rest in the gorge and supposedly during the seventies, Satanists performed sacrifices there.

So according to local myth it's haunted as fuck, and only half a mile from Turk the wanderer, who's another local story altogether.
>>
>>15101081
Thats a baller story bro. Id be all up exploring that indian massacre ground.

Oh my friends and I have, at night, in the dark. We got about half way down before some of the group started freaking out. Sadly not due to anything supernatural but because it's well noted that those living up on top of the Ridge are the deliverance type of rednecks and so it's best to not linger in the area.

It's interesting though, because I've driven straight through, driven through and stopped, and then lastly started walking down from the top. And, take this as me being a complete skeptic, threres something different about when you remove yourself from cover a D experience it.
There's a silence down there that's otherworldly and it really gets to you. No one in my party could last there more than five minutes. And none of us are believers. Maybe it's just the placebo of the legend of the place, I dunno. But regardless, it's powerful.

Not quite a local urban myth, but I want to share this anyway. A lot of people who go to my local church believe it's haunted. The building itself is very old and a family used to live there, and apparently some ghosts are sighted from time to time. There are apparently invisible kids giggling and playing in the church, a lady who cleans everything, and one unidentified spirit that seems somewhat disgruntled with the preschool there.

A lot of the sightings are from reputable staff in the church, though the local custodian, who believes everything she hears from the History Channel, believes to have seen a woman mopping up while she was cleaning one of the bathrooms.

Probably the spoopiest I've heard is that when one kid was doing graffiti on one of the walls in the preschool area, something pushed his hand off and away from the wall. The teacher reporting this is pretty sane, though I'd question whether or not she's exaggerating. She also says the rocking chair she sits rocks on its own sometimes.

I've only ever heard noises myself, though I'll admit, in one hallway, there's an inherent feeling of being watched and it really leaves chills. I think it might be due to the odd acoustics in that section, though, and I'm still pretty skeptical about the situation.

I live in Harlan, KY. A small coal mining town in the Appalachian mountains. In 2002 my dad was still a coal miner at the time. He worked night shift from 11 pm - 9 am. They got a lot of work done one particular night and took their lunch break early from 3 am-4 am. When the 40-50 miners got done eating they started heading back into the mine, but something was different....Something was odd. It was winter and coal mines are always going to be near freezing during the winter, even in the summer they get pretty low temperatures.

But the temperature had risen significantly when they started going back in. The thermostat read around 115 degrees Farehnheit or so if I remember. They were all sweating profusely now and a bit weirded out. Then the most god awful, horrifying scream came from down in the coal mines. The voice was deep and screamed with authority as if it were being burned alive. All the miners ran out as fast as they can and all demanded to be switched to another mine.

The word got around and no miner wanted to go back into that mine. It shut down because no one would work it again and they completely caved it in so that nobody could go in there.

Supposedly Satan himself took refuge in this mine to find solice in one of the most isolated and darkest places he could find.

Lakewood. Ohio here. Nothing really good, but in Lakewood High in the drama room there's a tunnel that goes underground, across Hilliard into the old baseball fields.
It's been completely blocked off for a long time, since I've been there at least.
Janitor used to let me smoke down there.
Anyway, I never actually went into the tunnel but there's doors all the way down it the janitor said, and I've heard what sounds like things being thrown around/movement, but there's no chance of me ever getting back there to explore.

I got an interesting one.

I live in a suburb right outside of pittsburgh pa. Near where i live there are a few "nature trails" That lead off from a dog park. Some paths lead to train tracks, and from there can be followed to a large wooded area. To even get into the dog park, you have to pass through a small business park.

Right outside of there though, there is a small restaurant. Rumour has it that one night some girl came in with her throat slit by some dude. Retarded right? Well, its actually true.

My friend and his ex had a suicide pact. They traveled up into the woods with a blanket, layed it down and talked for a bit. Then, my friend took out a knife and slit this girls throat. He sat with her for an hour and a half. He was supposed to do the same to himself but couldnt bring himself to do it. Eventually he left.

This girl fucking walked two hours out of the woods, through the train tracks, and through the dogpark into this restaurant where someone drove her to the hospital because she was fucking bleeding profusely from her neck. lol

Doctors have no idea how she lived.

Just goes to show you, not all urban myths are complete lies.

Hey /x/, Serb guy here.

My parent tell me of 1970's there was reporting of vampire in local mill, nobody ever go there because two people died, local militia and police was call out and did not find anything (vampires big deal in rural Serbia back then I guess?).

Me and friend go there once in day to see if any vampires, scary because it is 100 year old mill and still in good shape like someone take care of it and patch the holes, replace bad wood and things.

We never go back, had feelings that someone was watching us.

My parent say lake was haunted by a demon woman who seduce men, she especially liked younger men, she would lure them to lakeside then trance them and take them to cave in side of the bluffs on opposite side.

They say she is gorgeous and eats the soul through sex, when they become soul lost they stop function and just die in the cave.

In upstate Connecticut there's "Dudleytown".
It's an alleged ghost town from way back in the 1700s. The Dudley family moved to a remote area and I've heard myths from my dad that all the people who lived there died because of unfit environmental conditions, as the town was in a valley between three mountains. Other sources say it was because the Dudley's were cursed and all descendants died of strange causes. Many surrounding townsfolk deny Dudleytown's existence and it's highly discouraged to try and find it. Partially because there are only a few crumbling foundation remain, partially because it's private property with no distinguished routes.

One time when I lived in NY, back when I was rather young (7 or so), My dad was taking me and my brothers to see his parents in Penn Yann, which is in Yates County. Anyways, while we were driving there was this old house probably about an hour, hour and a half away from Penn Yann that my dad was telling me about and the story goes something like so:
Some lady was taking care of her nephew and a few of his friends at her house and was making dinner one night, she was boiling water when the kids went outside to play. However, there was some psycho wandering around that killed her nephew and his friends and cut off their heads, he stuffed all the heads in a bag and did this without the woman ever hearing anything. However, the man walks inside and drops the bag on the floor and right on the top of the pile is the lady's nephews' head, she was in the Kitchen at this point and saw the man witht eh bag so she grabbed the pot of water and threw it at him, she missed however and a hit a lightbulb attached to the ceiling, which disabled the thing from working. The man obviously continued to kill her and then probably went innawoods or some shit. Anyways, they say that every night around 6 or 7 o'clock the lightbulb will flicker for some time, i know the story sounds stereotypically spoopy but I was pretty young so i dont remember it incredibly well. But if any of you know the story, or have heard anything about it. Please tell me.

I live in Dublin, it's an old city founded by the Vikings and was once considered, during British rule, to be the 2nd capital of the empire. It's chock full of ghost stories and shit.

Not too long back, there used to be a place called Blackberry Fair, a maze-like collection of antique shops, second hair bookstores and peddlers of just about anything. The place had one major rule to anyone looking to set up shop - close up before sunset or you're shut down. The place had a major rat problem and that's the purported reason why merchants had to close up before dark and why it got closed down, but the other story of why is due to the deaths of three ghost hunters from Britain at the hands of what everyone else considers the reason - a murderous ghost called the Blackberry Man, a bowler-hatted, long-coated crawling spectre that, according to one apparent encounter, left dozens of scars on the person's foot. The ghost seemed to have had some connection to the rats.

The Blackberry Man was a boogeyman, and it's a fine example of urban legendry, but there's one legend around Dublin everyone knows - the tale of the Hellfire Club.
>>
>>15114582
The Hellfire Club is the burnt out shell of an old hunting lodge, built on Montpellier Hill in the 1700's by a fellow named Speaker Connelly. He supposedly took down an ancient Celtic cairn tomb on the site and used the stones to build the roof of his lodge. It wasn't long before the place burnt down for the first time and was bought by the notorious Hellfire Club.

These men were a collection of deviants into God knows what, and they could get away with it, way up on their hill-top lodge away from civilization. There are two stories about the club I know. One states that a nearby farmer had finally had enough of the evil ways of the Club and asked the local priest to be rid of them. They both travelled the isolated lodge and upon reaching, taken and forced into chairs along a long table with a chair at the head, which was taken up by a huge black cat, with curling ears like horns. The priest freed himself and threw holy water at the demonic cat, which screamed, and the place went up on smoke. In the confusion and chaos, the farmer freed himself, too, and ran from the building. Outside he found the body of the priest, his throat torn apart.

The most famous story of the Hellfire Club is how it came to be abandoned. Legend has it one night during a storm, a traveler found himself near the lodge. Knocking at the door, he asked for refuge from the storm, and the men brought him in. The night progressed well and after dinner they sat down for a game of cards. During the game, however, one of the members dropped a card and ducked under the table to retrieve it. But as he went under, he saw the traveler's feet - cloven hooves. The member jumped in terror, and the Devil, having been discovered, jumped the through the roof in a fireball, setting the building ablaze, more than likely killing all inside.

The Hellfire Club sits as it was, barren and burnt out, something of an attraction for tourists and teens .

Also? I can see it from my house.

518 here, reporting in about the H-man.

A story told at my old summer camp, but before that I heard it from my father.

The H-man has no real name that I can remember. He was a woodsman in the local mountain range (some say he was even into voodoo or some black magic). He lived close to the top of a camp that has been around for a long time, earlier than the 1920's. Legend says that the campers from a long time ago used to mess with him, knock-knock ditches, throwing shit at his house, usual kid stuff.

But it went too far one day. The kids started a fire to freak him out, just a small one. But it grew, and the man didn't notice (everyone assume's he was asleep). Soon the fire was engulfing the house, and at this point I should mention that a key feature of this man's cabin, or house, or whatever was that it had a metal "H" on the door.

The campers realized shit had gone south, and they ran. They didn't get far at all before they heard him burst through the door, and they looked back. He was about to take off after them, when the door fell on him.

There is much speculation about where the scar is, but the story says he has that H burned into his skin. He somehow surpassed death and stalks the camp to this day. He stands off in the trees at night, making kids wonder if they're safe. He carves an "H" in the trees to let them know he remembers. There's variations to. It was always a super obvious camp story so I never cared.

Now the counselors aren't allowed to talk about it though.

My mother grew up around Des Moines, Iowa and told me the story of the Lost Planet.

When she was young, there was an abandoned gravel quarry on the outskirts of town with a huge rock probably the size of a house in the middle of it. It faintly glowed green and had a few craters on it.

The thing is, about a mile from the place, all electronics would stop and compasses would spin around. The kids called it "The Lost Planet."

Eventually, in the 80s, it disappeared and a freeway was built where it used to be. And after the freeway was built, people became hesitant to talk about the Lost Planet for some reason.

Who knows what it was?

Oklahoman here, I will post some stuff about my area. A lot of it is Native American Folklore.

One story, which my father personally told me, is about little people (Basically like gnomes that live in the woods that the Native Americans knew about).

My dad was out hunting with a friend (there may have been more people with them, not sure). My father got back to their camp after hunting and was just messing around waiting for the other man to return. It was getting late and he was starting to get worried about him.

It was dark by the time he finally showed up to camp and he was as white as a ghost. My dad asked him what was up and this is what he told him.

He said that he was sitting on the forest floor, against a tree, with some bushes in front of him. He was just sitting there waiting for a deer to come by when he started to look around in the trees. As he looked, he noticed that there was what he called "Indian pottery" everywhere, hanging from string attached to tree branches. Then he noticed something jump up onto the side of the tree. It was a little person, I don't know the exact size, I would guess 1-2 foot tall. They would jump incredible heights and would latch onto the side of trees and would look around, scanning the area. There were lots of them, walking in a line through the forest. With the occasional one jumping onto a tree. He was scared to move for hours, not sure if they had seen him or not. When he finally got the courage to get back to camp, he told my dad his story and packed up that night and left.

Now, my father told me his friend had heard stories about the little people before, negative ones.

I have read up on Native American legend of little people a little bit, and their stories vary from whether they are good or evil.

Here is where my memory gets a little fuzzy. I can't remember what bad things he heard would happen if they seen him. Also, I can't remember if anything weird happened directly afterwards.

cont...

But, my dad said he got a call from his friend years later. He told he had just bought a new house, checked it out and everything looked great. But once he moved in, he noticed there were little people carved into I think his fireplace mantle?

I have read that you are not supposed to tell anyone if you see the little people, or they will torment and play tricks on you.

It has been years since I have been told this story, so some details may be wrong. I just texted my dad and asked him to type up the story and e-mail it to me, no response yet. I will post it whenever he sends it, if you are interested in it.

Forgot to mention this was in Red Rock, Oklahoma.

Another thing, my dad said this guy drank a lot and was always kind of off. But he was seriously scared that night.

quoting from the blog:

"My father worked at some mines in West Virginia for Dow Chemical. The locals often spoke of discovering passages in coal mines that looked like they were cut for little people to run through. Every once in a while somebody even reported seeing one of these little people coming or going. Some miners said that after blasting they had sometimes found what were hairless monkeys with strangely human features in the rubble and the company had told them to keep it under their hat. (Environmentalists would have shut them down and they would never be permitted to mine there again.)

The Cherokee believed there were little people running around underground all over North America.

Some people have suggested that when they find bones of these creatures that are recent, they get rid of them by pushing them into the past so far they cease to be a threat to our orthodoxy.

It is possible that the biggest problem for scientific advancement is that every time we discover something really interesting, we also discover that we cannot accept this new paradigm because it destroys so many others we will lose our bearings given what we currently believe.

I'm not saying I really believe in the Little People. I'm saying the story above is literally weirder than most human brains can even absorb in it's implications.

These aren't water channels. They show signs of being dug by hand or with stone tools. The question is who dug these out and why."

Interesting indeed... Maybe a hominid like the "Homo Floresiensis" only even smaller?

Oklahoman here again.

I have a story about my hometown, Claremore, Oklahoma.

This is the story of Claremore Mound and The Battle of Strawberry Moon.

Note: I'm pulling dates/numbers and some facts from wikipedia, as I cannot remember all the details.

In January 1817, the Arkansas Cherokee began plotting an attack against their enemies, the Osage.

In July of the same year, they informed William Clark, the Governor of Missouri Territory of their plans.

"they [the Osage] have stolen all our best horses, and have reduced us to work with our naked hands. [W}ith the few horses we have left, we intend to go to the Osages and hunt for those horses taken; we are going to do mischief."

500 Cherokee along with allies rode to Claremore Mound, that the Osage lived on top of. They lured out represenitive of the Osage, then the attack began.

The Warriors of the Osage and the Chief, Chief Clermont II, were currently out hunting at the time. So majority of those killed/captured were women and children. The mound is right on the Verdigris river. Many tried to escape by swimming across but were cut down by arrows or drowned. In all, 38 Osage were killed and over 100 taken captive. I've heard the mound is covered in small caves and they stored food/materials in them. The Cherokee took everything they wanted and burned the rest.

I've always heard stories of ghosts up on Claremore Mound. It's on private property now so I have never been up there, I do see it quite often though and fish under the bridge on the river it's located next to. I've heard stories of entities of the slain and ghost wolves (shapeshifter?)

Also, I have heard Chief Clermont's grave is up there on the mound as well (I'm guessing Clermont II). I thought he was killed in the battle but I just read otherwise. He is supposed to haunt the mound as well.

Fun fact I've been told, either Chief Clermont or Clermont II cast a 'spell' on my town. Making it so it would never be hit by a tornado and it hasn't.

Just found another source as I was writing this. Apparently, the elder Clermont was at the mound when the battle happened and he is buried at the top. His son Clermont II was out with a hunting party.

My dad e-mailed me back. I got some details wrong. Here is his version.

May 15th, opening day of squirrell season 1976. We had been up all night coon hunting on Red Rock Creek. We were just west of Red Rock, Ok. Right before daylight we had all the coon dogs in the back of the truck and split up along Red Rock Creek to squirrell hunt with .22 rifles. I remember it was kinda foggy that morning and kinda spooky lookin out in the bottoms. After meeting back at the truck my friend Don was all freaky actin and wanted to leave real quick. He said he was sitting in the bottoms and all the trees were real tall and weird looking in all the fog. He sitting on the ground leaning against a big pecan tree when he heard a noise coming down a trail along the creek. He was thinking it might be a deer and he kinda hunkered down to watch it pass. He said he started seeing some motion and couldn't figure out what he was seeing at first. Finally he could it was several very small people only a couple feet tall. He said the way they were dressed they blended right in and were really hard to see. They weren't talking at all but every once in awhile one of them would jump three or four foot up a tree and latch on like a cat and start scanning the forest. When that one would jump down, he said another one in the line would jump up on another tree and look around. Don said for some reason he was scared of them and lowered his eyes and only watched them out the side of his eyes for fear they would see him. After they went on by he sat there for a few minutes before moving. He said he started looking up in those big old trees and said in that area there was old 'indian pots' hanging from the branches all up above him. He finally got up the nerve to head back to the truck. He's the only one of us who didn't get any squirrels. Later some of the local Otoe Indians said they were 'little people' and if they ever see that you've seen them you would die...
>>
cont...

...Don never went back in that section of the woods again. About a month later him and his wife rented a house south of there on Black Bear Creek and noticed after they had rented it that were little people carved in the fireplace. He said they looked just like the ones he had seen and when he asked his Indian landlord what they were he also said they were 'little people."

Sorry for so many posts in a row. I'll shut up now.

Goatman's Bridge Hunting the Goat Man
November 15th 1967: police discover an abandoned car beside Old Alton Bridge, five miles south of Denton, Texas. A rash of mysterious disappearances are becoming alarmingly routine on a chilling stretch of road that is known by locals as "the Goatman's bridge."

Constructed in 1884, the bridge connected Lewisville to Alton. The turn of the century brought a black goat farmer and his family to a residence just North of the bridge, and a few short years later, Oscar Washburn was known as a dependable, honest businessman. North Texans endearingly began to call him the Goat man. But the success of a black man was still unwelcome, and Klansmen in the local government turned to violence after he displayed a sign on Alton Bridge: "this way to the Goat man's"

One night in August 1938, with their headlights off, Klansmen crossed the bridge, dragged the Goat man from his family, and lynched him over the side. Peering over into the water, his murderers saw a rope, but not his body. In a panic, the Klansman returned to the Washburn residence, and killed his family in cold blood.

Since the disappearance of the Goat man there have been many strange sightings on and near Old Alton Bridge. Some say his spirit still haunts these woods. Locals tell the story and follow it with a warning: those who cross the bridge with no headlights will be met on the other side by the Goat man.

After numerous abandoned automobiles and missing persons, a new bridge was constructed directly downstream. But Old Alton Bridge, the Goatman's Bridge, remains still open to foot traffic. It is under surveillance by the Paranormal Investigators of North Texas and the Denton County Paranormal Investigators.
>>
2/2

Others report seeing a ghostly man herding goats over the bridge, while others say they have seen an apparition staring at them, holding a goat head under each arm. Stranger stories even include people having seen a creature that resembles a half-goat, half-man.

More tales of strange noises have also been described including the sounds of horses’ hoof beats on the bridge, splashing in the creek below, maniacal laughter, and inhuman like growling coming from the surrounding woods.

Visitors sometimes tell of seeing mysterious lights in the area, of car doors locking and
unlocking of their own accord, a numerous vehicle breakdowns while near the old viaduct.

According to legend, if you visit on Halloween and honk your car horn twice, visitors can see Goatman's glowing eyes.

And, the Goatman is evidently not alone. Other reports tell of a woman’s spirit who wanders the area allegedly in search of her lost baby. Maybe that spirit is that of La Llorona, who is well known as haunting the rivers of the Southwest.

I live about ten minutes from ol' Goatman's bridge. Back in college I used to drive out there and smoke cigarettes on it. I always found it really peaceful. Funny thing is, it was only when I was there with other people that we would get weirded out. But by myself? Relaxing.

Theres a playground right next to it. Until they tore down that particular building the police would be constantly called because a "man" was watching the playground. Police investigated multiple times and never found anyone, but when they left the building they'd sometimes see it too and have to go back in. There's way more stuff I can go on about but I like that one because the police are a reputable source and there are multiple records of it.

What's not to love about evil pirates, comeupances and hauntings...

http://psican.org/alpha/index.php?/Nova-Scotia-Ghost-Reports/Oak-Island-Mahone-Bay.html

The ever popular oak island, rumours of pirate treasure and cunning pirate traps. not to mention spooky sightings and various ne'erdowell activity.

Wolfville, NS

Has a couple of haunted sites, its a university town but a school of some kind (generally baptist) has been there for almost 200 years leading to lots of old buildings with their fair share of spooks. This and the main dorm near the university are both verifiable haunted (at least if you believe drunk college kids and folklorists). I went to school here myself and there is definitely some spoopy stuff going on.

There's also a little known (For spoops) brook that is in the annapolis valley that gave me my first goddamn there's ghosts here. I was 11 or something and crossing the brook (it runs under the highway) made me think I was stung by a goddamn line of bees.

Later I learn that some 200 acadians were murdered in that very spot by the british more then 200 years ago.

Lots of spoops in Nova Scotia, Thanks everyone for your local spoops, this is honestly some of my favorite bits of /x/ right here.

I live out in southern bumfuck Massachusetts and the only actually freaky local one I've got is about Beaver Pond in Franklin, MA (technically I think it's located in Bellingham but pretty much only Franklin residents go to the place, and I think now it's called Chilton Beach or something but nobody calls it that). Anyway, in the early 90's some normal guy from Holliston MA had some kind of unexplained psychotic episode, murdered his wife and two kids and dumped the kids in Beaver Pond. Google "Kenneth Seguin" and there'll be a link to an article titled "Executive Gets Life Term in Killing of His Family", you can read the whole thing there. The article states: "on the evening of April 28 Mr. Seguin took the children for a drive, then gave them sleeping pills, waited for them to lose consciousness and slit their throats. He then submerged their bodies in a pond in Franklin, Mass., about 10 miles south of Holliston. Returning home, he found his wife asleep and lay beside her for two to three hours. Then he got an ax and killed her with one blow to the head."

My aunt was fairly young at the time and she was one of the first people who found out what happened because she was actually walking to the pond with my mom and when they got there a cop told them they had to go home because they had found a body in the pond. They found the two kids with their throats sliced open, practically decapitated. They were both around 5 or 6 years old. Some people say that now the pond is haunted and that if you swim near where the kids were found you'll feel something grabbing at your feet/see dark shapes with white eyes staring up from the bottom of the pond. A few years ago a young boy drowned in the pond and some people said that the kids drowned him. I'm not sure if I believe any of it but I stay away from the place anyway. The factual part is scary enough without the possibility of two dead kids lurking in the pond.

Supposedly we also have a local urban wendigo/skinwalker/rougarou thing in the Norfolk/Bellingham region of Massachusetts but I'm 95% sure it's this mental kid I used to go to school with who acts like a dog and does weird satanic shit in the woods and might have split personality disorder or schizophrenia. I've been to their house before and there's always vultures circling and there are piles of animal bones all over the yard/woods, it's creepy as hell. Looking at the kid you would think you were looking at something inhuman (or at least something that hasn't eaten a meal in a few weeks and has a serious case of crazy eyes). Who knows, maybe we have a suburban skinwalker.

I live in the midlands one of the areas of England thats been densely populated for millennia. Some areas are very secluded, theres old blood families and older traditions that far predate both christianity and the roman cultural invasion.

So theres this 'town' and by town i mean like one main road and like a private school, a manor and 3 or4 culdesacs offshooting from the main road that winds through the woodlands alongside the motorway heading south. Its a quick time saver that cuts like 15 minutes off following the motorway to the huge multi level island that allows me to get onto an intersecting eastbound motorway to get off at my own town, instead i head through this place which leads onto some back roads with an abandoned mental institution and an air field and through an old army barracks -now a supply depot for truckers and im home. Small out of the way place right?

Well it always seemed a little 'odd'. Wierd tree trunk carved into the shape of animals like a stag, an owl or a huge snake always caught my eye but more besides. You never saw people. Ever. you would drive past the school at lunch time and see no children on the playground, no sound of rambunctious kids. But everything was clean and maintained, the town was as clearly inhabited as any other, but you never saw people. Once during an insane flooding period about 5 years ago all the buses were out of service and i had to walk from College along the motor way in a t shirt and jeans in a torrential downpour and by the time i reached the town i as passed by a bus so clearly about an hour later with my feet sore and soggy the busses were back on so i wait at the town bus stop.
I wait for an hour, 3 buses past me. Not one stopped. I never saw another person in the town.

So thats all just set up, i'll make another post for my story.

So as we established this town, well a village i suppose, was strange yes? So heres the story.

Late autumn time back in ...2008? i think? Me and some at the time 1st year college buddies are doing what most english lads do at the time which is get in their shitty boy racers cars and "go cruising" around the countryside and maybe end the evening in the city, hit the pubs and bars, grab some pizza or a kebab, head home by 1 and call it good.
So we do our thing, we head to my college town for some particularly amazing indian food and head back to my place for some beers and rock band. Naturally we want to take my usual short cut. This time however it was different.
Bear in mind were aren't dudebros, we never drink and drive, i rarely drink at all in fact, so we were all completely sober, i was in the passenger seat, my buddy driving and my brother and his gf in the back.

We head through the village and somethings up. Theres lit lanterns everywhere. We slow down figuring its some Halloween thing, but its not even october yet so its too early. I think it was closer to when our primary school teachers would tell us about the tradition of 'harvest festivals' but im 26 so primary school was a looong time ago at this point.
Anyway we slow down and cruise at a slower than walking pace with our interest piqued. Its not just lanterns but decorations, including what i can only describe as scarecrows or "stuffy-guys" ready to sit atop a bonfire.
Some were sitting in chairs on porches, others stood up around town like people. And a noise, like drums beating.
So we were thoroughly creeped out, but still slowly moving, being the cliche horror movie dumb teens enthralled by the utter strangeness. Their was on add tang to the air, like burning rubber, oranges and semen. A strange melange of scents ive never forgotten. We could tell from the glare as we rounded the first corner.

We could see a orange glow from a large fire on the huge open area alongside the half mile track leading from the paved road to the secluded manor house. We couldnt see because of the typical english hedgerows but we could hear a loud commotion. Clearly people but also some strange sounds like if you have ever heard a pig scream -and i dont mean squeal, anyone whos heard it knows a pig can scream and its 'almost' human like but not quite.
So we start to speed up a little, we roll the windows up, this aint no movie or creepypasta, this was real life and yeah ill admit we were pretty fucking spooked. Still we go slow enough to eye all the wierd shit around. The wooden trunks carved into animals have what i can only describe as offerings before them. One a bushel of grains, another offal, another cakes or something and so on.
Bear in mind this is 11pm in autumn, the sky is pitch black here, no stars from cloud cover and everything lit by the flickering orange glow of the old school fire and oil looking lanterns hanging from poles and tree branches everywhere.
Then we get to the "green" such as it was in this little village. Behind it was the pub, the bus stop i mentioned before and a small grass patch surrounded by chainlink fence inbetween. On the grass there was a dead cow on its back, split open down the middle. This was the point i felt genuine fear in a "my life could end tonight" sort of way, because cut into the cow was a bunch of guys in what i can only describe as "shitty wizard outfits". Red robes with sun, moon and stars on them like a little kid wanting to be albus dumbledore. They had knives and were cutting into this thing like there was treasure inside if only they could cut deep enough.

They driver stopped. They stopped and looked at us, we looked at them. A couple of seconds passed but it felt like a good 5 or 6 minutes, then they bellowed and ran at the car.

So all of a sudden we are the unlucky spanish cops in resident evil 4 and the ganados are out for us.
A brick bounces off the windshield with a crack leaving a fracture that was very expensive to repair for my bros student income. They are yelling "stop em" "git em" and "road should a been closed!" and a bunch of shit i cant make out.

Needless to say we are all screaming "FUCKING DRIVE!" and we do, one guy hits the back just as we are accelerating and looking back i see the weapon he was cutting into the cow with was a straight, ornate looking knife of a very dark metal. The rest becomes a blur as we speed down the backroads at almost triple the legal speed limit and get home.

HERES THE KICKER.

Car is damaged, clearly, took a fucking brick to the windscreen after all, so we call the police. Two mid 40's coppers arrive 3 hours later, good old expeditious uk countryside police time, and ask us what happened.
We explain, they look at each other with a look that clearly says "if these kids were behind the wheel we would breathalyser them and get a positive" at first.
Then they ask where we were.
We tell them.

This time they share a different look. The kind of look you see two kids share when they are asked by their parent if they know if their friend did something bad and indeed they do.
They mention to look into it, but it "sounds like drunks, just be careful at night lads" and leave.

We never heard anything of it.

EPILOGUE

My now deceased Grandad who used to run the biggest accident recovery firm in the area and naturally was the place the cops came for on the job cups of tea and biscuits and a gossip had mentioned the town more than once apparently. For one period in the year "bad stuff happens there" and its just ignored. Some pull from the manorborne folk who own most of the area apparently.
My grandad told me about one time he was called there at the time for an abandoned car and found a young girl "cut to pieces" under the bridge leading out of town.
He got very pale, his hands shook and with a bitter laugh mentioned how the cops that came to the call out were both from the town and with a look of disgust mentioned one of them lifting up one of the girls removed breasts and said "ey derek, want to cop a handful'a tit?" like it was nothing.
It was reported in the media as an accident. One of many.

"Its a bad road that time of year" people say. "People get cut off in floods or snow and just end up meeting a bad end" people say.

They accept it, they dont question it.

All i know is i havent been down that road in half a decade, and dont plan to go there anytime soon.

A lot of talk for a unfortunately low payoff story that im sure sounds like generic bullshit. Thats life i suppose, even when people are fucking crazy its still just a story, one that plays out the world over.

I just know ill never forget that night. Never stop wondering what was going on, and what if we didn't drive off in time.

Then i just thank fuck that we did.

in Clarksville, TN we have something called the "Ghost Bridge"
it's a bridge, graffitied to fuck, and if you park on it and put your car in neutral it will roll forwards, but when you stand on the bridge, the ground seems perfectly level.
legend says that the bridge is actually inclined and when you stand on it, the ghosts of a bunch of dead kids push you so that you think that the bridge is flat. And if you put flour on your back as you stand there, you can see handprints from where the ghosts push you against the forces of gravity.

Very good story and I believe it could be true. If Jimmy Saville could get away with what he did in Britain due to all the other powerful pedo friends he had from politicans to the police and even the fucking royalty, anything like that could happen in Britain.

I mean, the guy literally set up orphanage/ special children's nurseries, had all the keys and sometimes stopped by for a little rape-time. He called himself a "MADE MAN" and said that he had too many powerful friends when Louis Theroux asked him if he was worried of the consequences of all the child abuse allegations towards him. There are stories with eyewitnesses that children from orphanages get lifted off with buses to hotels with pedo politicians/bluebloods waiting for them.

Remove Britain. (at least some parts of it, starting with the "City of London")

Where I come from (a small village) there is this case of a mummified woman found inside of a masonry oven. And by this I do not mean the chamber part. The perpretrator layed bricks to hide the body.

No one was sentenced for the murder which was quite weird because his own husband was most likely the culprit.

The oven was made years ago after the police tore it down so the man lived in that house for years.

The house is now abandoned and in bad condition but you can still go there and the oven is still in the same shape as it was when the police took it down.

Wisconsinite reporting. Isn't Wisconsin statistically the most paranormal state in the union? I know it has the second most UFO sightings behind New Mexico.

Anyway, Bray Road is pretty uninteresting. Apparently, around the time of the sightings, there were a lot of police reports regarding nearby occult stuff. Mutilated animals and all.

I went there once and it was pretty boring. A black cat crossed the road exactly at midnight, however. Literally, exactly at midnight. The clock struck 12, I looked up, and it was crossing.

Odd, but not paranormal.

I'm from Louisville, KY. There are a number of ghost tours, which isn't particularly exciting, except for one location. Waverly Hills Sanatorium. It is regularly considered one of the most haunted places in America because of the large number of people who died there during an outbreak of tuberculosis.

My gf is from a town in Souther KY. They have a place called the Octagon House where there were a number of brutal murders and deaths. It's also really close to the area where the Bell Witch mythos developed.
