I know bare minimum about drills, i did do some research while looking for good deals. I narrowed it down to 3 drills, now I'm just not sure if i buy the cheapest one I'm looking at since it's a store brand or just shell out and go for a brand name drill. While i am mainly looking at the 3 below, if you have a different drill to recommend i will take a look at it.

Cheapest - http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-18V-Li-ion-Cordless-Combi-Drill-with-2-Batteries/p/141178

If you know nothing about drills, get a corded one. They're cheaper and more powerful.

If you're planning on driving screws, get a cordless screwdriver: they're geared way slower than drills, so they deliver far more torque, in a more controllable manner.

Ding.

Half the price, more capable than all three you listed. Don't go cordless unless you absolutely need cordless.

We've got that Ryobi one, a friend of our who's an electrician recommended it to us and it works perfectly.

have used this for a while now and quite happy with it; you have the option of changing between a drill and impact driver (sold separately):

otherwise I'd suggest this:
http://www.sears.com/craftsman-17586-nextec-12.0v-lithium-ion-drill-driver/p-00917586000P

probably the best cordless I've owned; plenty of power and the charge lasts quite a long time
(there is also an impact driver for more $)

whatever you do, don't just buy the cheapest...if money wasn't an issue, I'd buy the dewalt

Makita are the best, dewault's are bretty good. Both are professional level drills though. You could get some sheap black and decker one from Wal-mart that would last for rare home projects.

I'm looking for one for drilling and screws.

Didn't even think of looking at corded ones since nearly everything is cordless these days. What's that one like as far as corded drills go? Average? Good?

I considered both sides, got confused and ended up making this thread. and you guys pretty much said what i was already thinking. and i still haven't gotten anywhere besides considering corded drills.

Well, don't get a corded one. That's just not smart. You would probably be OK with one from Walmart that is battery operated. Get a small one too. Like the one in your picture. I worked construction for like 3 months using one that was bigger and heavier. Really sucked. Get one like that but if I were you I would go to Home Depot and look at the DeWaults. I'm pretty even those are only a little bit more than the decent ones at walmart. I bought one recently at Walmart (Stanley) I think for the rare home occasions I would need it and it's worked perfectly fine so far. I've had it for a year or two. I worked construction for about three months though with a Ryobi which worked good but was the bigger one I was talking about. I wouldn't trust the same one I have now in construction. The guy I worked with who tought me a bit told me went with DeWaults and Makitas.
