I'm looking for some beginner resources to cooking, namely some glossary stuff and low level recipes. Anyone have any recommended apps or cookbooks for beginners?

The Joy of Cooking is the quintessential beginner cookbook. Granted, it might not lay out everything incredibly simply. But it has the basics for pretty much every single dish and technique you can think of.
Plus, you can almost always find a copy at a thrift store or garage sale, so it's never too expensive.
