I'm going on a deployment this fucking week.
I've got about 5 buddies with some gaming laptops and we all want to play games on a WLAN connection. I'm trying to use virtual routers but my computer doesnt support it. I dont want to go hard wired with it, there aren't many outlets on a ship to plus with 9823 feet of cables everywhere isn't safe. I thought of an idea, using my cell phone as a "server" to produce a LAN network since androids can do the mobile hotspot. But every search I've come to has said I will need internet/service. I just need an internal network that wont require internet service. I really appreciate the help guys.

just use a router, it doesn't have to connect to the internet to establish a network.

android works for this, have done that once with warcraft III and LoL also worked.

you should still be able to open up a hotspot even if you've got no reception I guess

But knowing that there a gazillions of differen android versions out there, I'm not sure of it works with every android, but I guess it does.
