Ive heard the vn is much better for umineko. I played it dindt see the anime but it seems like something that would not translate well to anime ive heard the manga is decent

The anime isn't the best. The VN is definitely where it's at.

Believe me, the anime is a complete failure of an adaptation. It doesn't even cover the whole story.
Please do yourself a favor and read the visual novel (or at least the manga)

If you want to get into it either read the VN (+80 hours long) or don't do it at all
