Hey guys, need help with my electricity and magnetism homework, please.
>A 10-cm-long thin glass rod uniformly charged to 14.0 nC and a 10-cm-long thin plastic rod uniformly charged to - 14.0 nC are placed side by side, 3.70 cm apart. What is the electric field strength 1.10 cm from the glass rod along the line connecting the midpoints of the two rods?
I tried calculating E as E=(1/4πε0)(Q/r[r^2+(L/2)^2]^.5 for both the positive and negative fields and adding the x components, since it's at the midpoint between the two. This didn't yield the right answer. Any thoughts?

You're going to have to break out your integrals along line segments.
