Recommend me a historical anime (that takes place in Japan).
Looking for some combination of these 3 criteria:
1) preferably pre-Meiji (pre-1868); at least pre-WW2.
2) main character/s are adults, preferably historical figures or involved with historical figures
3) no retarded stuff (super-powered fighting, magic unless it fits into traditions/folklore etc)
I've already seen Hyouge Mono. Basically looking for something similar, ideally.
Samurai Champloo I guess?
If you are willing for it to not be set in Japan, the Rose of Versailles fits perfectly.
