What are some good anime series to watch from the early 2000s?
I distanced myself from anime around this time and didn't get back into it until ~2010, so what are the best shows from that era? Specifically before 2007, since I've seen stuff like TTGL.
Pokemans
It's from 2008 but since TTGL is your claim to fame I'm pretty sure you haven't seen Kuuchuu Buranko, It's really nice character driven show about people and dysfunctions.
Last exile is pretty good as well, it's basically a show about aerial combat, about gunships fighting higher tech ships.
Then finally I guess Birdy Decode, it's a remake of a few OVAs and it's fairly well known for having strong animation, it's an action show involving people sharing the same body.

Also like someone else suggested don't miss out on Lain (1998).
Also 2007-2012 really was the golden age of anime.

Yeah, watch Texhnolyze after that; he worked on it too.

It's a serious list apart from that. Notice how most of the anime mentioned on this thread is on the list.

I think you'll find Lain to be a very different experience from Digimon Tamers, but it's worth seeing.

Shana is from that long ago, huh? I wonder if it lacks the bullshit that's been plaguing a lot of light novel adaptations these days. Anyone who's seen it got an opinion?

Sorry this is a bit off the main topic, but since you made that claim, I'm curious to hear your top 3 from each year 2007-12. Your picks seem mostly good.
