>No longer than 50 EPs
>Presumably Shōnen, Thriller, or Detective.

Do not watch Umineko. It's very good but you're better off reading the visual novels. Not only does the adaptation cut out a lot of information which is important to solving the mystery, but it's unfinished.

I think reading all 8 Umineko VNs is still shorter than 50 episodes, so it may still be something you'd like. Just a really good mystery series.
