vlc is pretty good. Increase your buffer size if you're on an unreliable connection.

Try PotPlayer, works great for me.

i think those are all your options.

everything fails under poor wifi. just transfer the file first. If you think it takes too long you're either devoid of patience or have to shitty of a connection for streaming to work with any player.

Mpv, crank up the cache line in your config.

Set it to something like cache=102400
