I bought a 4tb My Book and it says the file system is RAW, and when I try formatting, it says "The format did not complete successfully."
I don't have any data on it so I don't care about losing anything, but I've been searching all day for a way to get my drive to work and can't find shit. I doubt the drive itself is faulty, I'm sure it's software related, but I have no clue how to solve this, can anyone lend me a hand?

I would recommend making a live usb/cd of gparted: http://gparted.org/index.php
Then format the drive from the live cd.

i've had issues with gparted's live cd in the past.
Yo, op, if you also have issues with the live cd, make a linux mint KDE live cd, or a *buntu live cd, and "sudo apt install gparted"in a terminal to install gparted in the live cd, then just open gparted and use it as you would

I've never had any problems with the gparted cd. Just to make sure, I just downloaded it and burned it to a CD, and it works fine.
Your solution will work, but is more complicated than mine.
