Now that we're talking Portal, could anyone help me out?
Yesterday I started playing Portal 2 and for some reason, it lags a lot. I mean, video lag, it just randomly stops. And I tried to play with the lowest settings, but still. Which would be odd anyway, since Portal 1 or Left 4 Dead I can play on maximum quality.
Could anyone tell me what could be the problem? Thanks in advance.
install gentoo and play the linux version

First of all, thanks for trying to help.
I'm no IT guy, but it seems you recommended installing a new operative system just because of a single issue with a single game. Isn't that a little overkill?

This isn't a lot to go off of anon. "It lags," is not specific enough.

Sorry. English is not my first language, so I don't know a better word.
I mean, as far as the "problem" goes, is not much more than the game stopping randomly for one second. Even menus and loading screens. Like completely functional, but stopping short and often.
Sorry for being so dense about this. Is there any other info that would help? Computer specifics?

What is your computer's specs?

Try it on XBox.
Don't play PC if you don't have a perfect build.

There's your problem. Macbooks aren't built to run games.

Then why is it that I can play Portal 1 and Left 4 Dead 2 on near maximum quality and everything is cool? It's just Portal 2.
