Looking for a TV show to replace Boardwalk Empire.

Recently I've been watching a lot of Boardwalk Empire. I really fell in love with it. Unfortunately, I got massively spoiled by some piece of shit scumbags and now I have to kiss this show goodbye.
Anything similar I can watch instead? Doesn't have to take place in the same time period - I just want similar themes and things that made this show so great:
- complex story, preferably with political undertones
- lots of well-written, believable slice of life drama
- interesting characters with rich personalities and backstories
- lots of plot twists and backstabbing

OP here. One more criterion I forgot to mention, so I'll add it here: It would also be nice if the show featured as many characters "living a secret life" as possible. Kind of like Nucky was a politician to the people, but "after hours" he was managing illegal alcohol distribution. That kind of stuff.

spoiled what, the last season? i think it's still worth watching and it got awfully predictable anyway.
