The Goethe Institute channel has a series of video about being a newcomer in Germany

and listen to shitton of folk metal

Get some of those school textbooks. I used some to learn German even though I'm fucking 19. The Echo series is a good start. Duolingo didn't really help me at all

I used duolingo to learn some basic Norwegian, I believe they have German as well though
