I put a new sata hard drive in and my video/monitor stopped working. First it was sporadic but now it won't work at all. The monitor just goes into sleep mode.
I'm working on getting another monitor to troubleshoot that. I was reading it could be the video card. There is another vga on the motherboard and that isn't responding either.
Any ideas on figuring out this mess?

disconnect the hdd. does that fix the problem? then the drive is bad. rma it.

I'm thinking of just buying a video card and monitor from best buy. Diagnosing the problem and returning the parts I don't need.
Is this a solid idea or any advice?

This video card just died on me I think because the fan on it stopped working after I tried to add a new hard drive

Turns out my video card died while I was installing the new hard drive.
I'm partitioning the new hard drive now
