Had a similar problem on my old laptop. Turns out the hard drive was fried. I would check that. I can't remember how to do the hardware check, but I'm sure a simple google search can fix that.

That can't be possible, I can boot into safe mode and all my stuff is still there

The update files may be corrupted. Try deleting them while in safe mode. The path is C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.

But >>122849 might not be wrong either, your HDD can slowly fail, and physical portions of it might be broken, so when windows tries to "Write" the update during installation, It notices it can't write properly and discontinue the update.
