So, I watched the watchmen directors cut and really liked it.
I was told that the graphic novel was great, and I have never even read a single comic in my life before.n
So, I decided to give it a shot, read 17 pages, it was really good.
Anyways, now that I am interested in comics and graphic novels, what are some good ones to start off with?
Are there even many made with adults intended as the audience, like watchmen? Thanks for any help.
I forgot to state that I do plan on finishing watchmen.

What genres or characters interest you?

I am a filthy casual when it comes to /co/mics but here is my 2 cents.
seconding sandman. I would start with volume 1 and go from there.
if you like superheroes, there are 2 batman ones I can think of off the top of my head that are really good:
>the dark knight returns
>the killing joke
if you're into scifi/cyberpunk and are open to reading manga, akira is 6 volumes long and expensive, but is well worth the long read. maybe find a download somewhere or preview it before buying.
there are a lot of other good graphic novels out there I'm sure, but those are the ones I've personally read and liked the best.

>manga
Strain and Phoenix also manga that have that graphic novel feel to them.
Though Phoenix may feel very dated to some people.
