Need a good anime that is focused on a war or a series of wars. Can be any time period or era, doesn't matter. I don't really want stuff like Girls und Panzer.
Are you okay with Mechs? I'd recommend Gundam Wing. I think it's the best Gundam series ever even though that's a pleb opinion.

I think I remember the dub being tolerable. It aired on Toonami like 15 years ago, I remember coming home to watch it after school. But I mean I was a kid and it was 15 year ago so take that with a grain of salt. I watched again a few years ago but that was the sub.

If you don't mind going in for the long haul, look at Dougram. Most of the mech fightan seems like obligatory action segments but the focus is on the war, character and politics surrounding them.
Also look at the Area 88 OVA, it's a legitimate masterpiece.
