As far as 2814 goes, those 2 albums are the complete discog. 2814 however is a duo of 2 vaporwave artists known as Hong Kong Express and Telepath. Their solo stuff is pretty great as well. You can find some of their stuff and similar artists on the Dream Catalogue bandcamp, give it a listen.

Dream Catalogue has a /ton/ of solid Vapor. Mostly I just listen to what pops up on the reddit, soundclouds and such. Otherwise another artist to look into is Saint Pepsi; Lots of good with his stuff.
Another thing to look into is the off-shoot genre of Vaporwave, Future Funk. Albums like BAE by YUNG BAE or Sailorwave by Macross 82-99 are standouts for me.

I've had it described as a form of escapism for the exact reason you said: It's a way to just drop out of modern life and into something else, even if it is just for an hour or so. The fact that you can just go to a grocery store without even moving, or at least get the experience, is the specific aesthetic. Yes, I'm using that word, but it is what it is.
Vaporwave shouldn't fit a formula, which is why a lot of people just stretch and slow down songs just to go "hur hur look vapor" without putting any kind of thought into it. Macintosh Plus's Floral Shoppe may be slow 80's jazz, but it's at least cut up to make it sound like something interesting.
I leave with one last video, something that I think points out the whole 'formula' thing I mentioned earlier. Vapor's strength lies in the fact that every song should feel unique enough without feeling like it's exactly the same, unlike this:
