Bambino doing a cover is kpop related since they're a kpop group, not hard to understand

Where is the line between non-kpop group and a kpop group? Is Waveya accepted or not mister rule-maker?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_QqLmINPlE

>I'm not making the rules
Then who is? Tell me where are the written rules of what should be in a kpop webm thread or not? I'd much rather enjoy watching "non-kpop groups" dancing to kpop than some arbitrary idols doing nothing.

>Feels like you have no way
It's not me that has a problem. I'm just posting kpop-related webms and you here started burgering about non-existent rules.

Oh, so first it was only kpop dance groups, but now it can be only dance groups? What about 1-person dance groups? What is a difference between one person dancing to kpop and one person dancing to kpop? Or what about non-Korean dance groups dancing to kpop songs?

Seems like you have no good arguments against why Koreans dancing to music (Kpop or not) is kpop related. Except that "they aren't idols!", which would leave out things like Waveya or other cover groups.
>>
>>818948
You can post Waveya, but why would you? you better look at idols.

Again, Koreans dancing to not kpop is not kpop related.
>>

>Koreans dancing to not kpop is not kpop related.

>>
>>818957
Bambino is a kpop group, they can do pole dancing and it's kpop related.
>>
>>818962
Then why one person groups can't do pole dancing and be kpop related?

These rules are usually implicit when you look at a thread. It's like mixing "yfyl" posts into a "ylyl" thread. It wouldn't be on topic.

So, I made a short list:
Is the focus of the webm (and emphasis on focus) about
1) choreography from a kpop song
2) a member of a kpop group

Waveya fits under (1)
>>818832 falls in line with (2)
>>818903 is in category (2)

Meanwhile, the persons in the Afreeca DJ pots are neither assigned to an entertainment label nor is their dancing modeled after any choreography from a kpop song.

>>818922
>I'd much rather enjoy watching "non-kpop groups" dancing to kpop than some arbitrary idols doing nothing.
And that's why you'd do better going to a thread based off that.

No. You think it's ok to post idols doing arbitrary stuff but not Koreans dancing to kpop. It's like if you went in /lit/ to a "book discussion thread" but no one talks about the book but posts videos of what the author does in real life.

If you define "kpop thread" to only contain "kpop", which is the group of different Korean pop music, then all the webms should only be clips of music videos, live events, dance practices and covers or anything with the actual music in it. By that logic >>818824 is way more "kpop" than for example >>817984

So you made those rules just to fit your own idea of what is kpop related and what's not? Here's mine:
1) If the person/group is not in a Kpop group, he/she must dance/sing/play/do something related to kpop music/culture
2) If the person/group is in a Kpop group she can do whatever she likes (even though like I said I'd watch less these and more about the actual music)

I know, some of the AfreecaTV posts are borderline cases, but I still don't see the big difference between her and something like Waveya dancing to western music.
And those still leave open questions, like can there be webms of Waveya (not being a "assigned kpop group") doing random shit?
How closely has a foreign dance or sing to Kpop to be allowed?
Is Korean Variety shows or non-idol webms allowed?
Also why is single person without entertainment label dancing so different from single person with the label dancing?

>And that's why you'd do better going to a thread based off that.
Please, guide me to the "non-kpop groups and people dancing to kpop" thread. I don't care about qt asians or music threads. All the webms (even the couple afreekatv ones) I have are more or less related to kpop and that's why I'm here.

If you're really that strict and want everything to be separated into 10 different /wsg/ threads you can be the OP of the next thread and write the rules in the first post.

There's a basket of reasons you can't compare books and kpop, the top ones being how they're presented and "celebrated"/"enjoyed" differently.

>Waveya dancing to western music
I only now realize that the post about Waveya had them dancing to a non-kpop song. In that case, it's in that grey area you described. I suppose its been glossed over because Waveya has done kpop dance covers in the past and it falls in line with kpop choreography enough that few mind. And for the record, Bambino actually is assigned to an entertainment label and has outputted at least one single.

The main issue that I take (not sure about the guy that responded to you earlier) is your first rule
>1) If the person/group is not in a Kpop group, he/she must dance/sing/play/do something related to kpop music/culture
which sounds glaringly ambiguous and casts too wide of a net over what's considered on-topic. A video of a guy singing along to a kpop song while driving to work fits under that definition but I doubt anyone would want to see it unless there's something notable about it. In your specific example of the video from afreeca, aside from the background music, there's nothing else pointing in the realm of kpop. The focus of the video is then just to watch a woman dance. You could swap out the background music with any other song and it'll still likely not look out of place. That's why it should be under a "qt asian" thread.

>I don't care about qt asians if it's not about qt asians or music. All the webms (even the couple afreekatv ones) I have are more or less related to kpop and that's why I'm here.
Well if all the ones you have are like the afreeca ones in this thread, then the qt threads really are what you're looking for.

>There's a basket of reasons you can't compare books and kpop
Of course the comparison isn't entirely accurate, but stands the same point. Is "kpop" only the music genre or the whole Korean culture around music and idols, and where is the line between them.

>I suppose its been glossed over because Waveya has done kpop dance covers in the past
Oh, so if the group has done kpop covers before it's okay?

>A video of a guy singing along to a kpop song while driving to work fits under that definition but I doubt anyone would want to see it
Of course no one would want the threads be full of useless webms like that, but I don't mind those kind of webms every now and then. I still think they're k-pop related, and that's what this thread is for.
For example webm related. A non-idol, non-korean just singing to a kpop song, but it's interesting because he's in Korea, he sings and plays well and the Koreans sing along and participate in the performance(which they usually don't do).

>Well if all the ones you have are like the afreeca ones in this thread, then the qt threads really are what you're looking for.
80% of the webms this thread are mine. I don't even have webms to post in qt threads if I ever went to one

>What prevents you from using the catalog?
I already saw those, but they're not "non-kpop groups and people dancing to kpop" threads like I asked. I would happily post into two different threads if there was one for "Kpop idols doing random shit" and "kpop music and korean culture" webms

> Is "kpop" only the music genre or the whole Korean culture around music and idols
There's kpop as a genre and then there's kpop culture which isn't limited to Koreans because of its global popularity. This thread is meant to include both.

>Oh, so if the group has done kpop covers before it's okay?
Apparently so, considering how you're the sole person I've seen so far contesting it.

>I still think they're k-pop related
Related? Not measurably.

>and that's what this thread is for
I strongly disagree.
Which brings me to
>I would happily post into two different threads
So why not make one yourself?

>80% of the webms this thread are mine. I don't even have webms to post in qt threads if I ever went to one
If the afreeca webms are included in that 80% you spoke of, then you surely do.

>For example webm related
The focus is either on the guy's abilities to draw a crowd and/or how peculiar it is seeing a foreigner in a country containing a population of predominantly different ethnicity than his own.
Like the webcam dancing, there's nothing remarkably kpop about it. The impact would be the same if it were a different country and he's singing a song originating there. Merely having Korean people, music, or even culture in the webm doesn't make it kpop-oriented.

The bottom line that I'm trying to convey is that stuff you have in mind is simply off topic for a thread meant for kpop things and that you'd find better prospects in threads that more properly align with the themes in the webms.
>>
>>816931
Source on this?
>>
>>822779
>considering how you're the sole person I've seen so far contesting it.
I'm not contesting it, I think it should be fine to post all kinds of dance and music webms related to kpop. It's just some of you who have the problem and I wanted to understand the "rules" of when posting kpop dancing or music is allowed and when not. There is a gray area but I would allow couple of webms from there to be posted here rather than starting to bitch about them and making a new thread for them.

>Related? Not measurably.
But related still
>So why not make one yourself?
Because I'd much rather like /wsg/ to have couple big threads with lots of posters and content than 100 smaller threads with strict rules and only one poster.

>The focus is either on the guy's abilities to draw a crowd and/or how peculiar it is seeing a foreigner in a country containing a population of predominantly different ethnicity than his own.
The main focus is, but it also has kpop in it. You can't start to limit webms by their focuses. For example if someone sings and dances perfectly to a kpop song but has a ridiculous clothing, and someone makes a webm where the main focus is the outfit, should it be allowed?

>Like the webcam dancing, there's nothing remarkably kpop about it.
The ones with kpop music in them are kpop related. Even though random Koreans dancing to western songs might be little too off-topic, I still wouldn't mind seeing Waveya and other groups being posted here. Besides how famous or how close to being an idol a Korean has to be before she dancing to a western song is ok here?

>Merely having Korean people, music, or even culture in the webm doesn't make it kpop-oriented.
Not oriented, but often related. Just some random people or non-kpop music (is Trot counted as kpop or not?) or random Korean culture shouldn't be posted, but as long as they have something related to kpop I don't have problems with them.
>>
>>822779
Also what you think I have in mind is wrong. I don't have tons of off-topic webms I want to post here just to make you angry. I have many "kpop" kpop webms, and couple more or less kpop-related ones here and there.
So rather than starting to think and check on every webm whether or not you should post it everyone could post kpop-related webms unless it goes completely off-topic. It's not like these threads are too fast or anything

Walk down a street and accost the first person you see. Ask if you two are related to one another.
You can claim that you two probably are because it's likely through one match numerous criss-crossing of family lineages down the ages - but that isn't what people have in mind when they talk about relatives.

>You can't start to limit webms by their focuses.
Of course you can, why else are boards split into different threads?

>I'd much rather like /wsg/ to have couple big threads with lots of posters and content
And others much rather not. A whole mess of posts could very well be put to better view in other threads without forcing those uninterested to sift through them in the original one.

>than 100 smaller threads with strict rules
If themes vary widely enough that they may be divided into 100 different threads, then it must be a clusterfuck to confine them all to a few threads to begin with.
Rather, the more likely scenario is that you're overthinking the whole rules thing and purporting the idea that board culture is several times harsher than it really is. The primary point is for posts to be oriented towards a central topic.
It isn't very demanding to exercise proper judgment to determine where what belongs. If you happen to be wrong, then you'll be tipped off when you see people objecting, as they have earlier. You can answer for yourself the example you put forth; at least two persons have already put in effort in trying to explain the concept of being on topic to you.
And even if there are 100 contrasting threads in the catalog, there's a thread watcher feature that helps with tracking.

>and only one poster.
If no one else is posting to a thread, wouldn't the likely explanation be that no one else is interested in what that OP is offering? The alternative you suggest is for the poster to then push their undesirable posts onto a more frequented thread where the focus actually lies elsewhere - and that sounds quite selfish.

Because they're split according to the themes they're related to, not the main focuses. Like I said there would be tons of disallowed webms even in this thread if they were divided by their main focuses. It's ok if it's kpop related.

>And others much rather not.
Really? There are already many small threads that die just because they have too strictly specified rules. But even if they have broad rules people are still retarded and make many almost identical threads (5 cute X threads, 10 you laugh threads and so on). For good example this thread, even if it's not dying I'd like to see more than 1 post a day, even if it wasn't 100% on-topic.

>A whole mess of posts
>forcing those uninterested to sift through them
We're not talking about a whole mess of posts. We're talking about couple webms that are on the gray area of what is kpop related and what not. And I don't think not clicking the webm open according to the thumbnail isn't that hard. No one forces you to open every single gif and webm in this thread.

>If themes vary widely enough that they may be divided into 100 different threads, then it must be a clusterfuck to confine them all to a few threads to begin with.
That's the point, they don't vary so widely, but you make it seem like they do. Something related to kpop doesn't belong in this thread because it has no idol in it? One person dancing to kpop is not allowed but two persons are? Rather than making a new thread just to fit those absurd and vague rules they could be posted to the place they relate mostly to: this thread.
>>
>>825565
>>826183
>It isn't very demanding to exercise proper judgment to determine where what belongs. If you happen to be wrong, then you'll be tipped off when you see people objecting, as they have earlier.
I know, I'm not wrong but I'm not saying you're wrong either. There are no written rules and we have a different opinions of them. I'm just arguing about defending my point of view.

>If no one else is posting to a thread, wouldn't the likely explanation be that no one else is interested in what that OP is offering?
No. Not everyone on /wsg/ posts webms. I bet majority just lurks or post "moar" or "source" in threads.
Also for example people may not find "men groups playing animal sounds backwards on weird instruments" threads with maybe 2 different webms fitting into that caregory that interesting, but those same webms would fit well into "music thread" even though they were not 100% music.

>The alternative you suggest is for the poster to then push their undesirable posts onto a more frequented thread where the focus actually lies elsewhere - and that sounds quite selfish.
I think exactly the opposite. If I made a thread with no clear rules and someone posted a webm with the main focus in something else than the thread's theme, I wouldn't start to bitch him about it but rather have the webm in that thread than force him to make a new a one just for it.

>There are already many small threads that die just because they have too strictly specified rules.
That's supposed to happen. The OPs know what they're getting into. You don't set out to make a thread just to bask in its popularity, you do so to see if others share the same interests.

>people are still retarded
Feel free to chastise them on their threads.

>I'd like to see more than 1 post a day
This board averages well over a single post a day. You can thank reposters for that.

>I don't think not clicking the webm open according to the thumbnail isn't that hard
I'm envious of your ability to magically ascertain the entirety of a file's contents from just the thumbnail.

>No one forces you to open every single gif and webm in this thread.
"Oh, hey, thread I regularly follow got a bunch of new posts since my last visit. Hm. Nah, I'll just skip them."
Does this sound realistic to you?

This has digressed quite a bit from where things began, so let me bring it back.

>We're not talking about a whole mess of posts.
Let's consider this thread.

Do you consider a count of nine to be a mess of posts?

>And technically they are either korean stars dacing to music or koreans dancing to kpop music
>>826183
>Something related to kpop doesn't belong in this thread because it has no idol in it? One person dancing to kpop is not allowed but two persons are?
See >>819060 and >>825565 (and even the related webm in >>820356)
>I wouldn't start to bitch him about it but rather have the webm in that thread than force him to make a new a one just for it.
>gray area of what is kpop related and what not
If you still can't understand the concept of "using proper judgment" and consequently why the collection of posts I linked above belong to the "hot asian women" threads instead of a kpop thread by now, then I have no more words to say.

That's it for me.

>That's supposed to happen
I don't think so. I understand that OPs want to post and find other specifically themed webms, but 4chan isn't any kind of archive where the posts stay forever, but now if a thread dies everything gets deleted. If that wasn't the case then inactive threads with strict rules would be ok.
That's why I think it's more important to have alive threads with loose rules. If you want some specific webms or posts go to Reddit, there you can find years old webms and videos on subreddits.

>I'm envious of your ability to magically ascertain the entirety of a file's contents from just the thumbnail.
It's not that hard.
1. The AfreecaTV ones have been around for ages and you should recognize them
2. You can in 99% of the cases recognize some idol or filename or variety show hud.
3. Again no one forces you to open those. I might say I don't like watching Idols I don't know doing something pointless. What would I do? I'd close the webm and move to the next.
4. If those not-100%-kpop-focused webms really make you that angry, just don't open any webm without recognizable thumbnail and filename. Problem solved, everyone's happy.

>>Let's consider this thread.
>nine webms of which two are deleted and one is clearly kpop related
Yes, I consider 7 not to be whole mess in a thread with 115 webms. Besides the AfreecaTV ones are right after each other, I find it really hard to believe you'd get stuck opening each one if you want to avoid them.

>See >>819060 and >>825565 (and even the related webm in >>820356)
I already saw and replied those. What's the problem you have again?

>why the collection of posts I linked above belong to the "hot asian women" threads
I understand why they'd belong there, but tell me again why wouldn't they be posted here too. How many times I have to ask this, I know they are on the grey area, but what is a difference between the AfreecaTV webms and something like Waveya or an idol dancing to western music?

I feel there's one anon posting crappy webms with no audio just to bump the thread, even when it's not needed. Please don't, and no afreecatv webms.
