What? The treason thing ?
He's Senator, then Chancellor Palpatine. Like Obama now, and the Jedi"'s are the hippies protecting Obama. But the Hippies now wanna legalize and Obama is against it, so.... Treason.

The Jedi's are considered traitors of the Republic because they are against Palpatine, it's that simple. Because nobody knows, except for the Jedi's that Palpatine is a Sith Lord. For everyone else, he's still the good guy who wants to bring peace.

Sort of off topic but I feel like Vader did bring balance to the force. The good had become strong and evil was almost totally gone. Then Vader destroyed the order and did bring balance.

I love how they don't respect depth of field. The composited starfield behind the window is in focus even though it obviously should be way out of focus if you take a look at the window and wall behind the emperor. Most old school shit looking compositing is because of this. Seems like a ton of sfx guys had no clue about how optics work.

>>
>>803788
He totally did. The Jedi were too stuck in their ways and it was their refusal to accept romance as valid that caused their near annihilation. In the end it was only the fact that Anakin had kids that the Emperor could be stopped. The Jedi always say "no attachments" but in the end Vader had to choose between attachment to the Emperor or his son. The question then isn't "yes or no" attachment but to what you attach yourself.

Simply because when you're watching the emperor, the other stuff in the background is blurry for you. The movie is presenting a window, it's not trying to be your eye. This annoys me in new movies; if I want to focus on the thing in the background, like I'd be able to in real life, I should be able to do so without it being arteficially blurry.

every one of these behind the scenes videos shows the crew looking utterly confused at what is going on. It genuinely gives the impression that no one on the set except knows why they are doing this or think it's a good idea. It's too bad that George was surrounded by yes men. The prequels may have turned out better if it wasn't for them.
>>
>>811720
i mean, the dude did get both hands sliced off. was he supposed to just be completely calm?
>>
>>811920
From watch shit i tend to think George surrounded himself by yes men, or just ignored advice when it was given to him. He sounds half insane when he talks about what his movies are about. I think when he worked on the original trilogy he was fairly afraid about fucking up, and was much more willing to accept the input of others. Especially since he didn't have that much authority anyways when he made the first film. After years of making billions from star wars merchandising and being hailed as Star Wars one true creator by millions of fans, I think his ego got to him and he never felt he needed to listen to anyone else again, especially if he was paying for the movies himself. Shame.
>>
>>811720
For Dooku, he had to have feared something at some point for him to have fallen to the dark side. Just because you are a warrior doesn't mean that you are completelying fearles, especially in the circumstance that he was in. How would you feel if you were a once esteemed pupil of the wisest and oldest member of the jedi concil, turned stronger through training by the galaxies most evil, most manipulative, most powerful being and have him make you the head of a feared army and tell you that you are his prized apprentice, just so you can get your hands cut off and kneel defenseless and be seconds away from decapitaction by some arrogant, whiny jedi, and then have your master, who inspired you to become a sith in the first place, tell said jedi to kill you right then and there, with no remorse in his voice what so ever. I don't know about you man, but I would be balling my eyes out and begging for my life.

That bit when he turns around and tries to understand what's happening is the most emotive thing (and the best acting) in any of the 3 prequels.

That's not being particularly complimentary about this scene. That's just the state of the prequels.

Something I still don't understand, did General Grievous know he was part of the bigger picture (i.e did he take part in the false flag to kidnap Palpatine) or was he just a pawn in the plan who had no idea what was really happening?

No Jed eye thinks about using the Force to knock back the entire fucking droid army into the tunnel and bring down the top...

HECK, the only Jed eye who used the Force was Windu in Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars against Grievous...No fucking around, crush his lungs with the Force...No other Jed Eye had taught about that. Not before, not after.

The worst trilogy ever...even worse then Transformers.

It is much more believable to me that their robotic, style-less swings are a result of lack of training against live partners coupled with the fact that neither warrior is able to accurately foresee their opponent's next move, and so they're both very apprehensive about their own next strikes.

It is less believeable for me to see two dancers rave with giant glow sticks and call it a fight.

Their lives were better suited for creating the best Sith Lord there could ever be. A Sith born from the force itself fully committing to the dark side through child slaughter.

Darth Vader had massive powers that he never used. He never truly needed the Death Star.
>>
>>815570
Yes, but the general people looked at the force like a myth or legend. The Empire needed something tangible to stand by. Thats why the death star was needed. It was feared for what it was not what some rumor said it could. The people KNEW it could destroy.
>>
>>811946
There's actually a story from the set crew on the Empire Strikes Back where George would constantly have terrible ideas and then be shut down by other people because "No, George, that's a terrible idea" and then at one point he stole the master script and locked himself in a closet because he was terrified people were trying to "steal my movie", and a bunch of the senior production staff had to go reassure him that they were only trying to help and that they didn't hate all his ideas, just the bad ones
.
He also never intended the original Star Wars to be 'a kids movie' and in fact was incredibly depressed after shooting ended and was found by a member of the crew drinking by himself because "I made a kids movie. It's a kids movie." That was a direct quote from one of the crew on a documentary about it.

This is why the "They're just kids movies!" excuse is completely bullshit and the fact that Lucas now relies on it to justify the absolute shitshow that was the prequels is very telling.
The original trilogy had a lot of talented people working on them After the success of the original trilogy he was given way too much authority over the process, and to be fair to him he also didn't want to have to go through the pain he went through during the first three films again - the shoot for the original Star Wars was a fucking nightmare.

I can't say I really hate George but I do think he needs to back the fuck away from the series and just let it make him his billions of dollars at this point. Every time he gets directly, creatively involved in something these days he fucks it up hugely because he's become a crazy old fuck who's obsessed with changing bizarre minutiae about his shots for no reason.

The cool thing about most scifi is that they don't explain that.

Could be grav stabilisers, or a gyroscope or anything really. Flaps might open to enable heat dispersal from the blasters.

I think it's cool that it's never explained and shouldn't be.
