>>1045689
Can't be worse than a breakbarrel, or pump, it can literally only reduce recoil with energy being used to cycle.
>>1045611
The webm itself clearly refers to it as SMG.
>>1045569
>sturdy
That's the original Winchester toggle design that based JMB had to improve to make it actually sturdy enough for rifle cartridges.
>>1045721
But for when it was made, what it was made for, and how insanely rough a cowboy could be with his gun, it's pretty damn good I think.
>>1044464
Misnomer on the SMG part, more of a carbine. MC51 is the UK's version of the G3. Anyway, despite it's smaller size, it's still chambered for 7.62x51

It doesn't matter how much he speeds up. Taking around out of a box and putting it into this gimmicky piece of shit contraption, is not going to be faster than taking the round from the box and just sliding it into the mag.
The resistance on a mag follower isn't that tough, you're doing something wrong if you're injuring yourself.

It's a nice reload maneuver, but saves almost no time if you wait until the first magazine is empty
>>1047538
This
"Speedloaders" are moreso designed for older people that have trouble loading many magazines, since they do half the work for you. Many of them aren't faster to use at all, but they are still useful and worth having around if you ever hurt your fingers but still want to go shooting

if you can turn your brain off - yes, the action and atmosphere are really nice and it's passable brainless entertainment.
if you're looking for story or believable characters - you'll not enjoy yourself.
it's all style, no substance or realism. the "plot" is driven by a string of deus ex machina twists. every character is as one dimensional as they get. i liked the gunplay and the cool setting, but i could have done without the muscle car scenes. plus, i've long held the belief that the wall behind Reeves usually has more charisma than he does in any given scene. if you have time to spare - sure, go for it, i don't regret seeing it. if you're short on time - don't bother.

A stripper clip you have to manually load yourself one round at a time first...

Necrophilia refers to something once alive now dead. The rifle was never alive, so affinity towards it would be categorized under *Objectophilia*, not Necrophilia.
WE CAN GO DEEPER HOWEVER, because there exists paraphilic nomenclature for people sexually aroused by firearms: Hoplophilia, and if you don't have it you're a faggot. You're also a faggot if you do have it, faggot. Turns out everyone is faggot. It's faggots all the way down.
>>1054810
>Hoplophilia
Why that name? Sounds like it's derived from Hoplite.
>>1049911
I really liked the movie, but that's a fair analysis.
I'd say every actor in every role is typecast to a nearly cliche level. But that's fine because it's a very stylish movie and the directors take advantage of that to cut corners with 'broad strokes' character development (they do spend some time doing 'little things' character development and little personality quirks, which I really liked). If you never watched any american movies and didn't know any of the actor's previous works you'd probably be really confused as to why the movie assumes we know who these characters are.
Also: I really like the central premise of the movie. "You killed my dog. You fucked up." is a more viscerally satisfying revenge story to me than a thousand murdered wives or murdered kids. Maybe it's because I've never been married; maybe it's because that stuff is overdone; maybe I just love my dog more than any girlfriend I've ever had. Not sure.

Some quick googling says the greek Hoplo- prefix means 'heavily armed'. I don't know if Hoplite is derived from Hoplo- or if it's the other way around or if -ite just means 'person'. It's all greek to me.
Some more googling says 'Hoplophile' is actually an inversion of the word 'Hoplophobe', which is a political (not a medical) term coined by retired marine Colonel Jeff Cooper in 1962 to dismissively and pejoratively describe (hippies) members of the anti-gun and gun-control political movements. Specifically people who feared firearms had a will of their own or influenced the minds of those who owned them.
So I guess that's where the term comes from.
>>1054813
More likely from hoplon, the shield carried by a hoplite.
It's not uncommon among ancient troops that they took name from their equipment.

I was in the same boat.
Lived with my aunt and uncle for a couple years in bumfuck nowhere west Texas when I was 10-11. The "town" we lived in had 117 people. Literally just a school a post office, a forestation, a few blocks with houses and a gas station in one small area with a few ranchers and cotton farmers houses peppered around the outskirts. My uncle taught me how to shoot and we'd fuck around regularly with anything from a .22 to a 20ga. Where his house was you could shoot any direction you could see from the front porch, literally Nothing for miles to hit.
He had a friend once that got ahold of some pretty cool shit. Got to shoot An actual AK47 (on semi because I was like, 10), an M1 Garand, and one of those WWII 9mm SMG's with a horizontal magazine that I actually got to shoot on auto. Pretty fucking cool, except that one time he gave me his 12ga and didn't tell me he'd thrown a goddamn elephant slug in the mix. All the sudden he was standing behind me when I was about to shoot, he thought it was gonna knock my ass over, instead I just had a purple shoulder for a week... kicked like a goddamn mule....

In combat you need to keep your rifle up and down range at all times, keeping moving in the pocket of your should as little as possible, the only way that reload could have been done any better was if he some how retained the empty magazine while firing.
>>1059474
Caseless ammo familia
>>1059489
Not that guy, I'm just curious: how does caseless cartridges even work? Where is the gunpowder? How does it fire the projectile?
>>1061437
Instead of having a case that contains powder, you have a brick of solid fuel that (at least in theory) burns up completely.
>>1061455
So that huge brick of fuel+projectiles at the end just slide into the magazine? I assume it chops off the bullet+fuel to be fired off from the brick when the chamber closes then? I guess I could see how that works.
>>1061472
Nah man, that's not a single continuous brick. Those are several bricks that house one bullet each, and they stack neatly with each other because they're square. A typical case would be cylindrical to save on production costs and to aid in chambering and ejecting, but since you're burning the entire thing might as well make em square and save some space.
Still don't know how they managed to make a square chamber work, I mean there's different stress points and alignment... that's the real wizard shit.
>>1061536
>Still don't know how they managed to make a square chamber work, I mean there's different stress points and alignment
That's actually a good point. They must have taken all of that into account and reinforced the sides to compensate. I can't think of any other possibility. Could you imagine getting a faulty round though? I feel like the risk of blowing your rifle and possibly your fingers apart is way better than a traditional firearm.
>>1061554
I can imagine that chunk of propellant being less durable than a brass or steel case and breaking up during the loading process, jamming up the action (which in G11's case is a complicated mess of 9000+ parts, in true german fashion).
I can imagine part of that chunk not burning up when it's supposed to, causing some severe overpressure on the next shot.
I can imagine having exposed explosives like that being very risky, depending on how they're detonated.
I, uh, I think I need less imagination actually.
>>1061607
That's pretty much the reason the G11 was eventually dropped. The caseless ammo propellant could crumble apart due to age, excessive handling, or worse inside the gun itself. There were some seriously horrendous jams and failures to fire (you can find some images of them if you look around), some of which were so bad they either required full disassembly to clear or just plain broke internal parts and made the gun useless.
The US LSAT LMG program picked up where the G11 left off, improving on the caseless concept a lot. Their main focus right now is "cased telescoping" ammunition, which is basically a caseless cartridge inside a polymer shell. While this still makes the gun have to eject the polymer casing, it still dramatically reduces the weight on the gun when fully loaded. Compared to an M249 with 600 rounds of standard brass ammunition, the LSAT LMG with 600 rounds of case telescoped ammo has something like a 45% weight reduction.

few things that bug me: first the way he flicks the gun like that to drop the mag, I tried flicking it forward with my pistol like he does and it doesn't seem to help the mag drop any faster, you can kind of see it in the video, I find it's better to rapidly twist it sideways. Also he drops his head to reload, I know about bringing the "gun into your workspace" or whatever but I've found you can at least keep your head up while reloading so your peripheral vision can stay on the environment. Also, the way he drops his head between his shoulders, he has a very good grip set up but that really seems to tunnel your vision and limit your range of motion horizontally

It's about how many rounds a soldier can carry into the field.
The G11 and 510 rounds would weigh about 16 lbs.
Compare this to an M16 A2, which would only provide 240 rounds for the same 16 lbs.
More cartridges brought into the field by a soldier means more bullets to throw at the enemy, meaning higher chance of inflicting casualties.
