Then, it comes KLWP/UCCW, whatever is your choice. Test it. Use it. Learn it. Get yourself comfy, don't matter if your first widgets are horrible, or just useless. You'll learn little by little.
About wallpapers, this is purely your choice. You've a lot in wallhaven, take a look at that page. Next thing is the icon packs, just whatever goes with your wp and widgets.
THe most important things is that you've to like your setup, and you find it really useful. Something beautiful but a pain in the ass to use is worse than something ugly but really comfy.
Mine's the latest one: It's not really great, but it's comfy af for me, so that's what I most like about it. Can I try some better widgets? Of course, but what I've is enough.

Nova Launcher is a great launcher to use to get rid of the notification bar and google search bar.
Find a nice icon pack that fits your style and download KLWP for nice animations or if you want widgets only, try out KWGT or Zooper Widget.
I've seen some nice templates on the play store for Zooper and really can help when starting out. Not sure about the other apps I listed.
Icon packs and Zooper Widget templates come with nice papes.

Not OP, but using KLWP, go to the main Background tab and blur it. Then add a shape and change its FX to Background or Blurred Background with no blur. Something like that should work.

No idea. I use NOVA launcher so I can use any image I want for an icon so I just downloaded windows 95 icon png files and used them. And the start bar is simply a skin , but I made the start button give the illusion of working by using a blank png for the icon over it.
