Here's how I see it. First of all, being "defiant against all odds" doesn't necessarily mean you're a hero, not in a traditional sense anyways. Second, it's about doing stuff on your way and your own terms. Do that for a long enough time - you're bound to make some powerful enemies(who'll think you deserve to die).
So what the picture means to me is:

There are plenty of free game engines that are easy to learn for people with little to no experience I.e. Unity, Unreal, GameMaker: Studio, CopperCube, etc. You can also find a lot of free 3D models and such. Now it may still be difficult for the artistically impaired depending on how detailed you want to get, but if it's something you really want to do, don't hesitate to try because, unlike the pictures in this thread, the odds ARE in you're favor.......well, mostly. Just don't become your own obstacle and it shouldn't be too difficult. Unless you have shitty hardware and no money to upgrade. At any rate, best of luck

You're right about that, but making a game that has the quality that an average/hardcore gamer is looking for is no easy task. The kinda games >>6565574 is probably looking to make are Shadow of the Colossus-tier. The best chance someone has of making a decent, playable game that good is being a decent pixel artist and pouring your ideas into RPG maker or something.

Maybe, but everyone has to start somewhere. To get where he/she wants (also assuming he/she is trying to make an "average" by today's standard game) is going to require plenty of practice and hard work, but that's just how all skills are honed, and yeah, it's also gonna require a lot of time and most likely some extra people. Humble beginnings and what not. I mean just make some basic shit, get on forums, meet some people with similar interest, throw some ideas around, and try to assemble some people to make some shit for when you want to start getting serious. Till then, it's best to get a foot in the door, and to get some familiarity with the development process so that when you do meet people who'd want to join in, you won't come off as a nob.
