Only we understand how important it is to have the perfect wallpaper and to constantly be on the look out for the ultimate wallpaper! The importance of a wallpaper for me is the way it makes me feel what thoughts go through my head when i stare at it, does it motivate me to do stuff? do i get a sense of nostalgia? What does having the right wallpaper mean for you?

I made some really poor choices a little over a year ago that made my world feel a lot smaller in a lot of ways. I've been trying to find things that make me happy in every aspect I can.
I'm trying to restore how wonderful and mysterious and expansive everything was when I was young. I want to feel what it was like to sit down and play CS Source and listen to Infinity on High and not be a fuckup that feels like damaged goods again.
I've been decorating most things (papes included) with a lot of non-photo/realistic images in deep blues and greens. They remind me of nights in the suburb where my uncle lives in Virginia and it really calms me down.
It's helped. I've been getting a lot of shit taken care of, and even though I have days where I feel really off, they're becoming less frequent. I think getting in to shape and building a positive image of myself would really help and so I've been working toward that.

It gives me a few minutes respite from the nonsense of society.
For me it must have an exact reason which is more than just personal connection or aesthetic pleasure (but nonetheless includes both). I would never choose a random landscape, even if colors and photography are top notch, because it's just random. Instead, since I've been into buddhism in the last year and it's no minor part of me now, then pic related. /// Also fine art, or references to music and cinema, but only if a piece or album or movie really struck something in me, otherwise it's just lifeless, not "mine". Very very rarely I see a wallpaper that fits "my" category with no previous context (I think just a work by Moebius). Also avoid quotes like plague.

i could not agree more with you op its all of those things.. a good one can help me escape for a while, it can get me to think, it can motivate me... the funny thing about them is this though, i have thousands of great wallpapers and will save thousands more. we are always looking for that perfect one but will never ever find it. idk what that says about us, its probably a sad thing.. oh well back to saving!

I just like changing my background a lot, so I am trying to collect as many wallpapers as fit into my own personal criteria of quality, and that are at or above 1600x900 in size. It's an easy thing to collect, and /wg/ has good posters for the most part.
And sometimes, a wall is perfect for one day, but not the next. Nothing is perfect forever that is static, since I am not static. It's why I won't get a tattoo.
