How do you guys organise wallpapers to find specific ones later, or avoid duplicates, or replace low resolution wallpapers with high-resolution wallpapers if available?

Mine are just all dumped in a folder, and I'm hoping to improve that.

don't save literal shit you'd never use as a wallpaper, don't save so many wallpapers that you don't even know if you already have a version of it, and don't save low resolution wallpapers in the first place
as for finding later (apart from just saving less junk), sort by date modified and try to remember how long ago you saved it

I have 1300+ wallpapers, rotating each minute. I love collecting all sorts of wallpapers.

I don't collect anything less than 1080p, but sometimes I end up finding higher resolution photos.

Right now I try to recall by memory if I come across a certain wallpaper, but I have run into 2-3 duplicates, so I was wondering if there was any software which could scan my wallpaper library, search for similar looking images and fish out the duplicates.
>>
>>6464730
There are a few, just google it. I use image search pony because it shows you all the duplicates and lets you delete all the doubles with one click. However I did crash it one time by having it scan all the photos on my computer, not just wallpapers. So I'm not sure if it will be able to handle your 1300 pics.

>>6464707
I just throw them all in one folder and put a bunch of tags on em, so I can find things easily for threads (scenery, ocean, water, calming, etc)
>>
I keep them organized into folders of manageable sizes and use my memory for duplicates. I keep res at 1080p for space reasons and cull wallpapers liberally.

I also have a pending folder for wallpaper intake before categorizing and deciding whether or not to keep them.

Visipics to scan for duplicates, Bulk Rename Utility to organise them.

I also use Picasa to weed out dups

Visipics is the best duplicate-hunter I've found so far. It's pretty good.

I sort mine like this and make new folders or sub folders where needed.

>>6464746
I do the same thing as this guy with a pending folder. New images go there until I have time to go through them and categorize.

Sometimes I go through purges where I delete duplicates / low quality / cringey images.

i just shove different sets of my wallpapers into their own folders for each desktop theme, so like one folder for space, one for nature, etc..
i just had them in one big mess too but it became too much of a hassle to sift through them when selecting which to put on my slideshow, now i just select the folder
i tried tagging them but my tags would get too specific and subjective and it became a real bitch to do with every pic after a certain point
>>
what mac program do you recommend for organizing wallpapers (renaming in bulk and stuff)? so far i know dupuguru is good at detecting file duplicates
>>

how do you make your folders look like that?
>>
Does anyone know if there is any kind of wallpaper changing widget u can put on the desktop and use whenever u want to quickly change ur wallpaper instead of going to pictures>wallpapers>rightclick>setaswallpaper

If you are comfortable with rainmeter, you can give this skin I created a try.

i'm not satisfied with way i organise my wallpapers. some (currently 120) don't fit my scheme, but i don't want to make folder 'others'
in my wp folder is currently over 2000 files. and it will get worse, i'm collecting papes only a year
and girls papes are in different directory with 2200 files.
>>
>>6470253
XnViewMP might be good for this. I use it to tag stuff, not rename though.
>>
the problem with naming them all is that, if you have wallpaper slideshow on your desktop, it'll put them all together. i like some variety in my wallpaper cycle.

For instnace, if i name all my fallout papes as "fallout-1" "fallout-2", etc... then i'll just get all my fallouts back to back

i organize mine by folders(ex. landscapes). i made a script that works as follows:
i save my wallpapers with the name of the folder i want followed by numbers(to avoid colisions ex. landscape1.jpg)
then i run my script and it puts the wallpapers in the namedefined folder(or create the folder in case it doesnt exist) with a randomnumber as name plus the extension(ex 1381551285.jpg).

im still working on adding funtionalities to the script

I have over 30k wallpapers but I use a solid blue color desktop because my screen always has open windows anyway.

Instead, I run Picasa's photo screensaver set to 7 minutes (the ideal AFK time IMO). You can choose which folder/sub-folders you want it to cycle through. It also works well on multi-monitor setups unlike other photo screensavers.

Don't mean to brag but I got 4 screens rotating these papers, my stoner friends love sitting at my place watching my screensaver.

I was gonna attach a screenshot but it was too big so have this picture of robots attacking cows instead.
