One year ago today, my girlfriend of three years passed away due to complications of Leukemia. She showed me /wg/ in the summer of 2012, when we had first started dating. Over the many hours we spent browsing /wg/ and wallbase.cc together, we made a collection of about 4,000 wallpapers for our shared computer.
I guess I'm here today, my first time on /wg/ in just over 13 months, to share some wallpapers from our folder that has been untouched since her passing. These are some of her wallpapers that, I feel, collectively represent how she was as a person. They're ordered chronologically by when she downloaded them, with #1 being downloaded in late 2012, and #25 just 3 days before her passing.

Just know that you were lucky to share moments like that with someone, it sounds cheesy but the whole "smile because it happened" thing is really true. I'd guess that she was a sci-fi enthusiast, as well as someone who loved nature and animals. She had a deep fascination with the universe and she loved discussing such things with you, something, if I'm right, was often.

Either way, I'm sure she was a wonderful person. I'm sorry you had to lose her so tragically.
I used this as a wallpaper for a long time. My girlfriend of five years and I took this shortly after we got back together, following a particularly rough patch.

Coming from someone who is also sick, take solace in the fact that you gave her the greatest gift of all -- having someone to hold you up as the world crumbles around you. She enjoyed reading classic science-fiction novels during our surfing/hiking/camping roadtrips, her favorite being Helliconia. She was also very interested in art, you could find her painting or drawing most everywhere we went. A lot of her inspiration came from music, though. Both her and I were heavily influenced by hiphop and modern jazz.
Every day without her has been a struggle. It's the small things you really miss; the things you never thought you would take for granted. For instance, whenever we were apart for more than a few days due to travel, work, etc., she would write me handwritten letters that I'd get when we saw each other again. I have all of them to this day, but I still feel like I'm waiting to find one last letter from her every time I open my mailbox.

I know it can be so hard. Last year i lost what i thought would be the love of my life, the woman i wanted to marry and have kids with but she passed not long ago (a reason which i wont go into detail with for various reasons, mainly me trying to get over her loss), so now as i write this comment too you, trying to hold back the tears of someone who shaped me to who i am today, i just want to say i know it hurts and it's hard, especially when people tell you to 'stay strong' when you really just want to lock yourself away and never come out but remember you have friends and family who love and care about you.
I wish i could relive so many memories and moments that i know are so far away from being relived again because she's gone. I know it's an unhealthy way to think but i struggle to be without her. All i can recommend OP is keep your memories close and never forget the good times, try your best to move on and create new memories. Live life like you don't have tomorrow its what she would want you to do, don't let memories of her die out.

People have always theorised what the true meaning of life is. But i believe the people whom have loved and lost will understand the meaning best. Its simply to make and keep memories so they last forever. I know this may be a stretch of a request, but while i was reading this, i couldn't help but think in the best way to honour her, create multiple threads and dump all of her collection. It may be a stretch since you have 4,000 wallpapers, but am sure if she'd want to do something for /wg/, it give back all the joy and love from your collection back into this board. I wish i could do more out of respect but I've saved all the wallpapers, she sounded fantastic OP and you both were so lucky to had found eachover.
