Sometimes when you're surfing the internet, you come across a picture that causes you to just stop and think for a second. I mean really think. These are photos that you found without intending to that hit hard and caught you off guard and caused you to carefully rethink yourself or your life or philosophy in general. Has anybody else felt something like that out of nowhere?

this might probably mean very little or nothing to many of you anons, but lately I have been figuring and realizing some stuff out:
lately, hard science people, they are getting more and more important
all out economy depends on mostly engineering to mass produce stuff, and hard science people basically run all most successful businesses out there
all our military also works a lot on missiles and satellites and such stuff
our society and civil life too depends more and more on hard science people, google, facebook, twitter, that kind of thing
scientific communities keep separating themselves from general population more and more, even my university (chemistry) has its own print and publisher, library, laboratories, financing, events, social stuff, pocket cash events (such as lecturing or lab work etc) and so on
if you take a look at employment rates and starting salaries, by far hard science is the most secure and profitable thing to do

I feel like, soon enough, hard science folks might simply take over everything with ease and no opposition

Market's aren't magical and infinite. Once a ton of STEM graduates over flood the market wages will gradually drop. Supply and demand.

I doubt it. Brilliant people aren't an everyday commodity that can be subjected to simplistic models like supply and demand. Math and science are infinite in all direction and so are their opportunities. They have been king since we've been aware of them and they will be king long after you and I are dust. Thus the people who study and pioneer them are inherently more important than those who don't. The industrial revolution, the space race (then and now), and the race for alternative fuel sources and the holy motherload, fusion power.
Moral of the story, engineers and doctors are more important than retail managers and business majors because their trade runs on a more exact and reliable science.

i can't say i know anything about the stem market, but as an average student trying to get into a top engineering program, stem fields are becoming exponentially more and more competitive without a doubt... it's pretty scary for me as an individual, weighing my future, to think about

so when yall talk about this sort of shit it just stresses me out more to know that as "unlimited" the demand and potential is for stem, shit, i personally cant see myself reaching beyond what my peers can achieve
>>
>>6403486
Its not about that, its not about competition.

First of all: life isnt fair. Its not up to us to succeed. Its up to us to try. You may get seriously ill and fail your studies, some other guy might be perfectly healthy and have all the help in this world. Life isnt fair, we cant influence everything.. what we can do is try. Just try, anon. That's all there is to it.

Now second thing: STEM is beautiful. Its just so.. pleasurable. Doesnt matter if you are debating can infinity ever be constructed from natural numbers, or do numbers even exist, doesnt matter if you are solving problems in physics using fundamental particles such as bosons and fermions and so on, or if you are trying to write a completely new machine language, or automate dangerous or boring jobs and help billions of people.....
if you dont have that aesthetic pleasure from your work, what's the point?

I asked professors at my university how did they achieve their doctorates, how did they complete their studies. I asked physicists, mathematicians, chemists, computer people....
they all told me the same: it brings them pleasure, but more often its about not quitting. Failing is acceptable, quitting isnt. Some of them took 10 years to complete basic academic studies that last 4 years. They were failing hard, and that's fine. Only real failure is quitting.

So just enjoy the ride and dont quit.

In our generation maybe, not the next one or the following. The inevitable automation of industry (and eventually the rest) is much more total than during the last few generations, unless that's not dealt with then security and profit wont matter. Once science and art is the only thing humans can dedicate themselves to they wont have to do it out of a financial viewpoint.

There's lot of English to understand here. Don't missread me, I mean, I understand it, but I think you all are talking about deeply things that are hard to understand to me.

Although, I want to share an image that made me realize something, as OP said. I don't know if it will be of your taste, but I think it is 100% what OP said.

Pic semi-unrelated. something I've been thinking about is how the world is getting more and more fucked up. We hit a golden age and its dieing. People are trying to be more morally correct than ever and have seem to forgotten the saying,"the road to hell is paved with good intentions". I personally think something big is going to have to happen for any of this to stop. And i mean big. But i can tell its coming. I just hope to be near the center of it when it happens, than maybe i can help make the world better again.

Seems pretty fitting for me right now... I'm 27 years old currently, and the realization the I'm letting things pass me by has finally set in. I played games like there was no tomorrow. I played them hard. 2 Months ago I accepted that it was purely an addiction. I loved it. I felt so immersed in these fantasy worlds. I don't feel like it was all wasted, I try to think positive and look at how I've developed mentally. Regardless, 2 months ago I began getting rid of my characters and online achievements. No reasons to go back. Seen a lot of close family pass away recently and it will only continue, I hadn't even made a good effort chasing my life's dreams. What if no one I care about is left to witness my accomplishments? The real grind has begun.. and there are no last saves, or re-spawns.

Cheers OP

> The world has never been better than now, and it will only get better.
Wow, I just remembered why I don't venture here too often. We passed the best times. They were called the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Each decade, declining. Now we're but a grotesque mockery of what we were.

>Back when witch hunts and the like happened for the sake of morals.
>witch hunts
>morals
Do you even watch the propaga- "news"? Do you parttake of "entertainment" (movies, AAA-games etc)? Do you follow social media? Do you go outside? We live in a time where the SJWs would, if they had enough power, start the inquisition and execute a lot of people. The witch hunt for the moral crimes that they percieve to be threats.

Western civilization is under attack. If you want to preserve the white race, you're a racist. If you want to guard the borders, you're probably a nazi bigot (and a racist). If you want to stop the rampant mockery and destruction of traditional values, the very values that made the country in the first place, you're a bigot (and probably a racist). If you're a white male, you have no advantages, no help. Society looks for every opportunity to replace you, at all levels.

The traitors in charge are running a very real witch hunt here: to hunt and destroy (through social means, but also in other ways - "hate speech" protection only applying to non-whites for example) any resistance to their tyrranical rule. The end goal is to get as close to totalitarianism as you can, while still having "elections".

>Unless WW3 happens
WW3 is one of the events that may yet save us. Another is revolution in the western world could as well, but that would spring the trap of the police state - giving them justification to shut the populace down once and for all, with all the power they've been gathering. Best not go off half-cocked here. Public support needs to be higher first.
>>
>>6405342
>"the road to hell is paved with good intentions"
That's an excellent summary of the times we live in. The big thing you're talking about, is the pendulum swinging back from the left. The backlash to the rampant trampling of every value and memory we represent. We're not going to get communism or whatever their struggle is for, far too many people have woken up.

We will, however, get civil war. Or WW3 to cover that up (as well as to mitigate the incoming financial crash). The best thing for the US would be civil war. The american people would win that fight, as long as they keep their guns. For europe, it would be for nationalists to take over, and free themselves of US (ZOG) influence. This would allow the necessary processes to take place, to return to traditional values.

Unfortunately, "democracy" in its current state is neither needed, nor optimal, if whites as a distinct racial branch of mankind want to survive. It could return in time, in the form of constitutional republics or monarchies (where the king has no power, as is the case everywhere but england), as intended by the founding fathers of the US, but not in its current free-for-all-form. With modern propaganda techniques ("the news" for example), it's too easy to mislead and control. There needs to be checks and balances, properly enforced ones, and people dependant on the state, or without any contribution to it, should not be allowed to vote for it. That's like giving a kid a piece of candy, and asking what he would rather have next: a healthy meal (personal responsibility, minimal government), or more candy (benefits, expansion of the state).

>Yes Mr Soros.
How about you kill yourself? We need to inform whoever we can. Make them see that what they're agreeing to isn't freedom, but tyrrany disguised.

I try to collect as many "emotional" wallpapers as I can because they are my favorite. It's not necessarily a wallpaper that is my favorite. I turned it into a wallpaper (not very well, but I did) when i read this part of the Manga (berserk). It's the part where gutts has to fight off creatures AND protect others at the same time, especially Caska. It hit me SUPER hard when i read this part.

I dig it, man. Huge Berserk fan, and I really feel for Guts. I sometimes relate to him, and not in the edgy way that 4chan will crucify me for, but in a way where no matter how shitty it gets, or how awful you feel, you've got to keep going; even though I'm probably going to kill myself.

Fucking hell, I love Guts.

This painting was part of the reason I left engineering and became a teacher.

Look at that cold emptiness that pervades the "perfect structure." Look at the man scribbling away. Look at the perfect loveliness of the human form. Look at that sky which suggests both their transitory nature and their everlasting qualities.

Look at that apple.

After every bomb, every war, every rape and murder and horror that mankind has faced, one child reaches out to other to take the apple, to suggest that life was still worth it after all, that we'd be willing to suffer it all over again.

It means as much to me as the final 'Yes' of Ulysses. It Is Life Reaffirmed.
