why is it so important?

It is a painting of non christian philosophers as a fresco in the vatican. During the renaissance the world was moving away from how religion controlled every part of your day to day lives. this was evident of how so much artwork was biblical in nature before the 1500s. But during the renaissance people started seeing the value in other cultures and learning from the teachings of past philosophers despite not being members of the church.
It is essentially a painting of important heathens on the wall of one of the most religiously conservative cities in Europe.
