Rainmeter is a great thing guys, but it's not ricing by itself.

Old thread: >>6390647
>>
still asking the
>>6398346
anon to share his modified vs. youll get my ethernal grattitude for that. your vs is the closest i ever saw to perfectly what i always wanted
>>
>>6398266
>>6398276
Look at the rainmeter wiki for documentation regarding different plugins/settings. Make sure it has the same settings as the art view. The things such as forced layout, height, width, etc. If it's too big or you need it to take less space when you use it try decreasing the height or width.

why do people here always have those picture of a qt girl 2D or 3D?

why do people here like tiling so much?

nobody ever answers this here why?
>>
>>6398479
why not?
>>
>>6398479
I'm not really tiling, it's just Winsplit. Makes it easy to quickly size the windows and put them in a place I like.
As for qt 3d/2d grills, meh, it's really just to fill space in my case.

As for the general populace, tiling just quickly organizes and streamlines a workflow (I like having my windows where they are and still having the level of control given by not tiling/i.e. floating). It's really useful for some people, keeps things nice, neat, and very manageable, but it's not for everyone.
>>
>>6398482
there must be a reason because all of you have the same format
square windows, black panel, random vertical qt, irc chat, music player(this one makes sense), that thing with the pc info that if i had to name it i woud be dead even though i see the name every week, square everything
>>6398486
maybe i will try tilling now that i am forced to use a Mac i am more used not being on full screen all the time
>>
>>6398506
>square windows
No shit, rounded corners are an osx thing

>black panel
It's called a taskbar and/or info bar

>random vertical qt
Showing qt's with an image viewer

>irc chat
I don't use irc myself, but many do
>>
>>6398512
i am not complaining just curious because the same patterns repeat a lot here

for example the windows can have smooth edges but that is rare, the taskbar can have any other color

it is strange from an outsider's perspective the amount of similaties

maybe i am overlooking something or not observing well i don't know...
>>
>>6398520
>smooth edges

If only, It's rare since most window managers don't allow them

>other color
True, but darker colors are much better
>>
>>6398521
>If only, It's rare since most window managers don't allow them
well that sucks

>True, but darker colors are much better
well mine is transparent
but the box for the running program is not, i would fix it but i'm switching to Arch soon
>>
Trying out transparent borders again, and a slightly different bar.
>>6398470
The VS is called pix_
>>6398477
Second bar colors look awful but this still looks so good.
>>6398479
Idk about the 2d and 3dpd but because tiling is best anon.
>>6398486
Having an AHK tiling script is a lot better than Winsplit imo.
>>6398506
You just described a /g/ desktop perfectly, there's similarities because there's only a limited amount of things you can do to a desktop.

>>
>>6398923
i upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 and ive noticed serious performance improvements, but it might just be because its a fresh os with updated drivers.

as for the "they monitor you", its as simple as opening settings and opting out of everything. if you're paranoid, block telemetry/microsoft domains using a hosts file (protip: use google)
>>
I was able to change part of the main bar's color, however the top margin still stays white.
I can completely remove the margin by setting it to -12px, but that's just not very convenient when it comes to dragging the window around.
Anyone have any idea how I can change the color of the top margin?

I also changed tab-inactive-text-color to #FFFFFF but it still appears slightly grey. any tips on that?
>>
>>
>>6405508
You can't, since that is an element of the window controlled by OSX, similar to borders/titlebars on Windows. Firefox can't mess with that since it's not actually part of firefox.

Obviously not, what with all of that rainmeter looking shite. If you're going for this type of background I'd recommend keeping your on-screen windows to a minimum and/or as simple as possible. Your color scheme for your browser looks a little strange. Also your taskbar needs work. Either get a decent set of icons or lose it entirely.

here is my desktop! Sorry for the custom resolution, im using a CRT and having a higher resolution would make it 60 Hz wich is very tiring to the eyes on CRTs

Hey thanks man.
A few more questions.

How do you set up your new tab like that?
Is it just a CSS code you read from your pc?
Could you upload that, too?

Also, dose anyone know how to change the border color?
Standard settings aren't changing it for me, probably because of the VS.

So how do I change it without changing the vs itself?
>>
>>6409860
It's a custom homepage made from HTML / CSS / Javascript. It wasn't originally mine, I just edited it to my preferences.

I don't remember who I got the page from, but they seemed like they wanted it kept on the down low, so I don't have any plans to release it at this time. Maybe they'll come along and share it.

As for your problem, it's probably your visual style. There are some CSS snippets that you could try from nanami-tan to get rid of the white lines.

My visual style is the same color as my css, so I don't have any problems.

If that happens you're doing it wrong.

There's more to ricing than rainmeter/visual styles.
And rainmeter does add to the "user experience" adding functionality/utility to the desktop (And no, I'm not talking about clocks/dates/visualizers/meters).
I guess by and large you're right.

At least show us something like your browser (Which I see is chrome. Can't rice that shit) or foobar.

I organize my wallpapers fine. It's setting them up to run as my background that Win10 is shit at. At least with Win7/8, you could set a "theme" by choosing specific wallpapers you wanted to run and saving it.

Now with Win10, they broke the "theming" and instead you have to do it through their shitty settings where instead of choosing a select few, you have to either choose one, choose all, or be really careful to choose specific ones while holding down CTRL the entire time.

I'm pretty new to ricing but I have to ask:

How did you get your photo gallery to look and behave like that?

What is that "why are you up so late" module? How do I get it, and how much customization does it allow for?

What is that manga image on your desktop? I see them all over these threads, but have no idea what they are or how to get them. From what I've read they're mostly just there as eyecandy, which is exactly what I'm looking for, but I have no idea how to go about getting one/setting one up

I'm pretty new to the whole ricing thing, but so far I'm moving at a pretty decent speed. Would you mind explaining your answers in a way that wont totally confuse me though?

Anyways I'd appreciate any critiques or suggestions on where to go from here.

It's showing off their desktop. An image to show their image viewer. IRC or something else to show off their terminal. Some sort of browser open, etc. The entire point is showing off what your theme looks like.

That's also why people will post webms of them clicking around in their desktop rather than just posting an image.

I don't know if you know, you can have two separate wallpapers.

Also, you can have widgets by installing 8gadgetpack

open the personalization wallpaper selector, right click a wall, pick which monitor you want it on
why does no one seem to know about this?
