Anything classical
Scaled down from a much larger image, so apparently 16:10 crop was a bit finicky.
I have a picture of the whole sculpture but it's 2big (9MB). Anyway, this close up is very impressive. Bernini had amazing skills.
I have no more, lovely thread though.
This image of Petra was my background for a very long time, seems like behind those columns, inside the darkness, there is another whole world.

It is so freakin majestic! I loved stepping through that threshold. Even though it's just a big empty room, you are surrounded by a volume and history that you can just taste. Been there twice and it blows my mind every time.

I was wondering why that was so familiar, it's a statue in Madrid but the changed the background.

The Oracle foresaw that one of his sons was going dethrone and kill him so he devoured each one of them.

Caravaggio is the best. The head of Holofernes in this painting is actually a self portrait.
Same thing with pic related.
Anyone has this magnificent painting in higher resolution?
It's Herper James Draper's The Pearls of Aphrodite.
