I want to say don't play it, it's shit, but it kept me busy for 115 hours. So, it must have done something right. It's just that I have no fond memories of playing it.

I've got about 130hrs into a SINGLE GOD DAMNED CHARACTER, and still haven't beaten one playthrough.... yeah, fuck that game, but it *is* super rewarding when you overcome its "fuck you" bullshit

DS is a good game, but you don't play it like you play any other game, where you basically smash your way through with minimum effort and knowledge of enemies/battlefield. And it doesn't try to entertain you that much or keeping your attention high --- it doesn't take you by the hand through embarassing lists of action steps. What I like in DS is that it takes the commitment and cerebral aspects of puzzle games and applies it to physical combat. If an enemy or boss or area is giving you trouble, trying harder almost always doesn't work --- there's something you missed. The actual combat may be a bit slow in the first DS, but it's better in the II, and the III man... Look at them videos. It's fucking brutal. AND the character design is top notch. AAND the story is amazing.
Anyway, the wallpaper.

literally my favourite fucking game of all time
spent 800 hours in the game according to steam
it's an over all great game, with a great community and pretty huge replay value as long as there is a weapon you havent used, or a challenge run you havent done
pvp is pretty laggy, and there arent as many people online as there used to be either

Maybe it was fact that I watched a lot of GameCenter CX beforehand, but I rarely got actively frustrated with Dark Souls. Dying was just part of it; something you laughed about before starting to reevaluate the situation. Then the reward was more beautiful landscapes, interesting characters, great bosses, and pieces of it's fantastic lore. DS is in my top ten.
