I actually didn't mind 8 all that much. There were downsides that made me like it much less than 7, but they were at least justified.
As for Vista, it looked nice as fuck, but the menus were sorta kinda impossible to navigate, and it was extremely paranoid (By default) and would scream virus at anything with an exe extension. That's why I disliked it.
