This show is my guilty pleasure. So, so, so bad. overall the show is terrible, a 6/10 at best, BUT every 20-30 episodes they finally do something amazing to just hook you long enough to get you to sit around for another 3-4 weeks...

Luffy vs Dofflamingo (pic related), new allies (a fleet of them for that matter), Sabo, "Devil fruit awakening", Kaido's first apearance (and since no more SMILE factory, Kaido is going to go after them now; which makes the strawhats enemies of 3 of the 4 emperors (Kaido, Big Mom, Blackbeard), etc.
More shit has happened in Dressrosa then i think in any arc so far. How is it boring?

The anime is going really slow because its so close to the manga that it has to drag each episode down to 1-2 chapters, thus filling the 30 minute episodes with jokes, gags, and "Diamante!" "rebecca!" "diamante!" "REBECCAA" "DIAMANTEE" "REBECAAAAA" that never actually happened in the manga

the reason it is boring is because of the god-awful pacing. I loved this show to death growing up, hell I've watch the 714 episodes that have aired and seen the 5 or w/e movies so I know there are good moments, but HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS THIS PACING TERRIBLE. I use to be on your side, arguing that so much happened in every episode and so much detail was given that it dragged out the arcs, for the better. After watching many, many other shows since I can confidently say this show has the worst pacing I have ever witnessed. I love detail in a show, but this anime goes way beyond useful/informative detail and encroaches on OCD detail. The series should have been able to completely finish by 700 episodes, not be just barely over halfway.

yeah a ton of new faces, all really interesting too, but god damn so much fucking detail to each of them it drags out the show for WEEKS.

I'll give you this one, that entire thing was badass as fuck and so far the colosseum has been my favorite part.

sure it's a great plot point for the arc, but other than pissing him off and foiling his plans with SMILE, we haven't seen shit from the Emperors (I will say I'm 99% positive this arc will end with at least 2/4 showing up/heading that way/something as the straw hats hightail it the fuck out of there)
so yeah a ton has happened, but for the most part it has been a whole lot of nothing while hyping the future of what may happen.
I have a theory that Roger had the Gum-Gum fruit and died at an early age because of it (Lucci said how luffy's second gear shortens his lifespan).
When Roger died, Shanks went to find his Captains fruit (remember, shanks was on Rogers crew) and found it in the East Blue (where the story of one piece begins; and ask yourself this: why did shanks have the gum gum fruit at the beginning of the show? we know that devil fruits reappear when the user dies (Ace and Sabo for example), so how did shanks get it?). Shanks was in small town and a little runt (Luffy) ate the fruit. Then Shanks gave Luffy the straw hat and told him return it when he becomes a great pirate (and who was a great pirate in Shank's eyes? Roger. his captain.)
When Shanks talked with whitebeard (telling whitebeard to tell ace to not go after blackbeard), whitebeard asked why he didnt have his strawhat, and Shanks replied that he made a bet with the future. (or something like that anyways)
When Luffy was fighting Lucci, Lucci examined Luffy's second gear, saying that Luffy is doping himself with his own blood, at the cost of his own lifespan (but Luffy says he doesn't care as long as he saves his friends). Throughout the series Luffy has used second and third gear countless times now. Taking its toll on his body. his health. If he keeps using it/pushing his body to the limit to the point of physical exhaustion (Ennies lobby, Thriller Bark, Impel Down, Marineford, etc) wouldn't you say he'll die at an early age? Die at an early age like Roger, who had an incurable disease because of his health?

this i can see you're point, i've caught up to the manga and watch the show and ti can see why you're saying its slow, but you have to realize that the animators for one piece need to be a certain distance from the manga in order to have good pacing. If they're far away, yea they can fit as much information as they can into the 30 time slot. but if they're too close, (such as in this situation) they need to fill the 30 minute time slot with jokes, gags, and 20 seconds of back and fourth close-ups of face expressions.
Right now, they're so close that they can catch up withing a couple months with the pacing you want; and with Toei's lack on detail in their animation it would be even faster.
Oda only has 1-2 days off a month, and with the show catching up i'm sure hes under a lot of stress because his fans want more one piece.

no I have not, considered it, but have way too much going on to start from scratch on the mana (I wouldn't read it in any other way, ch1-current). I never really noticed the pacing problem until I caught up and then it killed me.
I know the reason they go into so much detail is because they don't want to catch up but I absolutely hate that in shows; it is pretty much filler at that point. I'd much rather see them create really awesome, entertaining episodes and then take a 3-4mo break (I know, a death sentence in the anime world and I'd be castrated for saying such a thing) at which point they pick it back up again when they have the CONTENT to work with. As of right now every episode feels like a chore hoping to see a glimmer of some buenos.

I also really like this theory, though I doubt it would play out that cool. I've always just believed that the D. lineage was just from the old group of people from the void century who were wiped out by big bad Gov't; most likely these people originated from somewhere else way more mysterious/unique (other world/planet???). they brought with them all these crazy new things that brought the current world into its current "age" (dials, DF, haki, etc) and the Gov't freaked out and killed them all as they felt they were losing control of their kingdoms and wanted to remain the aristocracy. idk those Poneglyphs just give me this mysterious, otherworldly vibe.

if you're into theories, then the youtube video i'm about to paste is a good one. I am a strong believer in this theory, as everything fits together and all the strawhat dreams will be completed (luffy being pirate king, nami drawing a map of the world, zoro being the strongest, brook meeting laboon, franky and his ship reaching raftel, etc). if one piece really does end how this theory predicts, then One Piece will be, the greatest story is the history of mankind.
