I had only watched railgun S. I suppose it's time to watch railgun then.

Does railgun get interesting? I got to episode 4 and it was really boring so i dropped it, but the theme opening had some brief hints of seemingly cool things.

Barely. The first arc starts at episode 5 or 6 (can't remember which) and goes through episode 12. After that comes the obligatory beach episode followed by nothing but filler through episode 18. Episode 19 is the beginning of the second arc, which is fairly decent. In Railgun S, the main arc starts at episode 5 IIRC and goes through episode 16. A few episodes of single-episode filler follow before the second arc begins. Don't even bother watching past the end of the first arc, the second is HORRIBLE.
