It depends
The movies are newer, therefore look better however they aren't finished and the third movie STILL hasn't had a dub release. If you watch the rebuilds first then you might end up being unable to watch the original because of the art.
On the other hand the original (Neon Genesis Evangelion + End of Evangelion) is complete and has some superb mind-fuck, and some argue the later is better.
It depends what you want: The rebuild movies have more shonen fighting robots and the original has more psychology and philosophy with the fighting robots.
Personaly the philosophy and sybolism is executed better in the original, but I've only seen the first two movies because I'm waiting on the dub. I watched the dub because people said it sounded better, so I haven't experienced the Japanese voices.
If you're depressed then definitely watch the first one.

It bothered me so I fixed it locally.
I couldn't find the exact font that was used in the original so I just replaced it with one I had that was similar.
If anyone knows which font that is, I could redo it.
