I just spent $220 on this lot of old games and systems. I was mostly interested in the Atari 7800 but the other stuff is a sort-of bonus.
None of them are confirmed to be working but I'm a gambling man and tinkering around with a bunch of old stuff is going to be pretty dope.

Did you buy it on eBay? I'll assume. If so, probably should have gone for tested ones. As-is, as it is it's quite an interesting assortment of pre-NES consoles with decent representations of 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen.
For reference, Master Systems have a game built in and will work with 2600 joysticks, you just won't actually be able to play probably because no button 2 but you can check if it works before you invest anything in it,

It's still an easy yard-sale pickup which tbqh is what I expected to read when I came in the thread considering the barn-find condition. If so, I was still going to remark what an interesting assortment of consoles it was - like something somebody's 99 year old parents have had stored since he went off to college in 1986.
atardi's are still hunks of junk that aren't that collectible these days, mostly cause the dingleberry's who grew up with this shit are already conked out or blind and senile and thus can't jack up the prices :D

As for the games, the only stuff worth some coin in there is Rampage, Alien, Mario Bros. and Pitfall 2. The others are just 1 to 3 dollar games.
The Atari 2600 games are next to worthless.
That Master System is junked and is worth nothing unless it works flawlessly, has controllers, and all the hookups.

This. People used to get good deals on yard sale stuff because nobody had a way to check how much that stuff was worth unless they knew someone or were a collector themselves. Now everyone has a smartphone in their pocket, so combine that access with the amount of "your old games might be worth 14k" articles and tv shows like pawn stars and storage wars that make everyone think they have hidden gold in their basement and you don't have the same "this old junk isn't worth a thing" mentality people did just six or seven years ago. The idea that retro games can potentially be valuable is pretty deep-seated now, people think they can get money for games simply BECAUSE they're old.

There's one VCS game known to not work on the rev 1 7800 so they fixed it on rev 2 but their fix broke compatibility with like 2 games. It's easy to put in a switch on the rev 2 to disable/re-enable their revision though. I'm sure you could add it pretty easily to the rev 1. Iirc correctly it's Dark Chambers that was incompatible to start with which is a cool game but there's a better version for 7800 anyway.

It doesn't have all the switches a regular 2600 would have. For instance, the black & white switch was actually used in game play for a few titles. Games like Space Shuttle and Ghostbusters won't even boot up on a 7800.
So a few games won't work and you'd think that's not a problem, but some of the most interesting games are the ones that use all the switches on the console.

OP here. For anyone wondering, I bought it on Ebay and it hasn't got here yet, so there's a possibility it is all damaged and won't play. Here's hoping it's not.
I may have got robbed but I'm pretty excited about the purchase and playing it all nonetheless.
As for the Master System being worthless, I already have a few games/controllers (which I found at a pawn shop awhile back) for it and all the hookups for a Genesis 1 which will make it a complete system. Provided it works...
I'm looking forward to expanding my collection and spending a lot of time in the man cave.

Cpuld you expand on this? The atari I grew up with is still at my mom's and I haven't tried to play it in recent years because of that. The only port on the back I remember is what looks like an 1/8 stereo jack. Idk which model it is. Probably has 6 or 8 switches and wood panelling.

The 1/8" jack that looks like a headphone is DC in (power) the RF jack looks like a single phono (RCA/Composite) jack. Just use a decent phono cable you should have lying around with one of these on your coaxial input on your TV. Technically a "phono to f-type" but f-type is often called coax because of it's association with that cable type.

It's called phono. People refer to it as RCA since they created it. The f-type connector is indeed usually used on the end of coaxial cable as I said but in this application Anon will just be adapting a phono ("RCA") cable to plug into the F-type ("Coax") RF input on his TV using the adapter I posted. Alternately he could use the opposite adapter on the Atari side to run a coax cable which might protect better against interference. Most people prefer to do it with a phono cable though since they're more common and more flexible.
