I don't quite understand the development history. It's supposed to be an American developed IBM game but it looks like a Japanese PC88 title. The PC98 version looks a lot nicer.

It is a Japanese game, like all games in Koei's Historical Simulation series. I had a look at the PC98 and it sure looks nicer, while the DOS version has a PC88 feel, but it turns out there is no PC88 port. Weird.

Maybe the company that did the DOS port got lazy and used the same engine they had localized for L'Empeur or they aimed for EGA graphics?
