Why does the Parodius series have so catchy music?
>>3333680
Because it's contemporary reworkings of pieces by master composers of years gone by.
The instruments samples they used sound really catchy.

So that explains everything.

Well, they might have pranced about in powdered wigs but these niggas knew how to bang out a tune.

Timeless, really.
A better questions is, why are Parodius games so much more fun than the games they're making fun of?
>>3333795
Lots of variety in enemy types and abilities.
More lighthearted presentation.

Better than Twinbee and penguin games yeah, better than Gradius nah.

Gradius doesn't let you wear a condom as a shield.

Parodius mostly uses the same templates as Gradius in terms of level design and bosses, with some exceptions of course, but I feel they're more carefully designed than most Gradius games, there's rarely any difficulty spikes unlike Gradius which can whip your ass as fast as getting to the third stage and then have some lukewarm stages later on, Parodius is more consistently hard, it has more visual variety and it generally more entertaining due to the parodic nature, having lots of ships helps too even though some of those break the game too hard, looking at you Kid Dracula.
If you want something really bullshit hard Gradius has it beat though, and there's still a few games like Gaiden that have enemy patterns and design that never appear in Parodius, mostly because Parodius died before Gradius.
I too like Parodius more but Gradius still has some kind of charm that makes it hard to say it's worse than Parodius.
