What old games do you consider to be unknown or to be underrated, /vr/?
Nothing's obscure after youtube and wikipedia.

I'm very curious about this game. The ISO is out, and i think it would be interesting for a translator anon to translate it.

Indie DOS/early Windows games from smaller countries can be quite obscure, especially if they aren't in English. They may have some recognition in their own countries, though.

Which Mac OS was it that you need to run this game?
Chipper, AKA Strawberry Magic 2. It's a Hebrew kid's game from 1997. An English dub may exist, but I can't find any real proof. What I do know is that a UK company called Telstar Electronic Studios localized some of these Hebrew games. Not sure if this one is among them, but it would be neat to find out.
>>3332894
I know several games which you can't find on either, but I guess you can find them yourself since nothing is obscure anymore right ;)

Translate what, exactly?

Fukken Areena 5. Where are you from, anon?
This game is somewhat of a local vidya legend here in Finland. It feels almost everyone who's into games has played this game at some point of their lives. The creator has actually done at least two newer installments but they are online games and never caught attention the way Areena 5 did.

Lord of the Rings: War in Middle Earth seems to be pretty obscure for such a known IP. I had no clue about this game until recently and I specifically searched for LotR games many times.
I remember my parents bought me this game and I could never quite figure out how to play it. Might not actually be obscure but I rarely see it mentioned

those fish look really stoned especially the one inhaling that shellpipe
>>3335157
The art style in general is pretty weird. This is one of the first characters you meet in the game.
Dstroy. It's just a bomberman clone, but the lil quirks really made it fun.
>>3336176
It was dumped several years back on a Hebrew retro game site. I may not understand it, but in a way, it adds to the charm.
I think X is criminaly undertalked about.
I've mentioned it in several threads, but no one ever seems to respond.
I guess it being only released in Japan is one reason few people know it.
>>3332885
Not that. Well known and overrated.
>>3337349
Literally nobody knew about it 3 years ago, though.
>>3336249
What kind of game is it? I haven't seen you post about it, but I haven't been as active on /vr/ lately.
>>3337384
X is a 3D flight sim / FPS for the gameboy.
It really does have true 3d graphics, although it's all low poly wireframe with somewhat short render distance.
Although, the game actually is pretty fun, and runs well despite it's limitations, but is mostly forgotten nowadays.
The basics is that is was inspired by Starglider, a computer game with similar graphics made for the Amiga/Atari ST.
X actually started as a portable version of Starglider named "Lunar Chase", developed by the same person who made the original Starglider.
When Nintendo saw this they became interested in making a true 3D game for the Gameboy, something no one would expect, so they contacted the developer and they worked out a deal, with the name being changed to X as well as some other details.
When it was released it was critically acclaimed and sold pretty well. It even made a couple Japanese top 10 lists.
A sequel for the DSI was released named X-Scape, which is also quite fun, I recommend it.
If you've played the sequel, then you could probably play X without knowing any Japanese.
Another thing that came out of it was the inspiration for Starfox, and it shows.
(spoiler) Sorry this post is kind of stream-of-consiousness, I'm tired

You're literally ignorant if you believe that. No one knew yesterdays news two days ago. That doesn't mean nobody knows it today. Literally retarded.
>>3337695
That's pretty neat.

It's still a pretty unheard of game outside /vr/. The only game by that guy that gets any attention is LSD.

I remember seeing a youtube video of some Slavic (Polish or Czech or something) adventure game that looked like it was from the late '80s or early '90s, but I can't find it and dont' remember its name. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I highly doubt you have actually played it.
I'm a big fan of obscure games. Two that come to mind are the NES games Gyruss and Gumshoe. I never hear either discussed ever and they deserve better. Gumshoe was super intriguing as it used the Zapper, creating a light-gun platformer. Shooting your character jumps, and you'll have to shoot things coming at him as a well as shoot balloons for more ammo. Unfortunately no continues, so 3 deaths and you're done which is really sad because there's 6 levels and I can barely get past level 2.
Gyruss combines Galaga and Tempest. You guide a spaceship in a conic formation, blasting enemies down the line. Super arcadey and a fantastic pick-up-and-play NES title.

I speak a little bit of Japanese.
I've never tried to emulate those old Macintosh operating systems before, and when I tried to get Basilisk II up and running I could pretty much follow the guide...
Up until the point that my guide said "by the way, this only works if you are running a 32 bit operating system"
I run Windows 7 x64, and I hit a wall there. I tried anyway, but like the guide said it won't run unless I'm running a x32 system.
What should I do, /vr/? Anybody have experience trying to emulate this sort of stuff? Should I run a virtual machine, then try and run Basilisk II through that?
I'd really like to play this stuff.

Saboten Man isn't for Mac

That explains why I couldn't get Saboten Man running on it, then.
I'll check this out, thanks a lot man. Like I said, I'm just getting into all of this.
