So I've been wanting to get into the Ultima series, what are some Ultima games you guys would suggest? Recently I've been playing Ultima 6 on SNES.

I don't know the specifics but some of the console versions are considered the better

Ultima 1-3 are pretty meh, especially 1 and 2. Honestly didn't enjoy the series until 4. All the interesting story stuff for 1-3 is in the manuals anyway.

Ultima 4-7 are fantastic. Ultima 8 is unplayable garbage. I never even found the motivation for 9.

Martian Dreams and that other jungle knockoff one that both used the Ultima 6 engine seemed pretty neato.

Ultima 6 seemed like the peak of the core series, IMHO. People like Ultima 7 but it seems too funky to me with the weird iso and no tiles. It was also a chore to get working, but apparently Exult fixed that.

8 and 9 are just kind of bad.

Ultima Online is supposed to be the best MMO ever made.
