The STRIKE series is one of my favorite games of all time, I think I used the cartridges a lot faster than the CDs for the later titles but by god was it fun to play, explore the world and destroy buildings.
Why aren't there helicopter games as cool as this now? Also, retro copter games in general

More like, why aren't there helicopter games now? Hell, even plane games are becoming less common.
Seek and Destroy! From good ol Epic Megagames on DOS. Loved the shit out of this game a lot more than the Strike series.
Topgun Firestorm plays like the Stealth Fighter stage in Jungle Strike
In Thunder Blade what you do is fly around and blow things the fuck up

I played the shit out of Tiger Heli in arcades as a kid.

There's a learning curve, once you git gud enough to live for more than five seconds it's really not that bad
Was playing Desert Strike a little while back. Made it to(I believe) the last level. I should really pick it back up and finish it. Great game but the fact that in order to finish a level you will need to find hidden oil barrels is bullshit. Every landing pad should either have a couple barrels of gas at each location or just auto refill when you land to drop off pows.

They adjusted the landing pads in later Strike games to put at least one ammo crate and one fuel tank to refill in case of long back-and-forth travels

Super Thunder Blade was hard as fuck, I couldn't go above the second level back when I was a kid, I should try it by today standards

I fucking love this game. It's so damn comfy.
