I've got a new one for you guys.
I went to play Harvest Moon on the SNES today and was shocked to see my save file in slot 1 was gone. HOWEVER. The save file in slot 2 was still there. How is it possible to lose one save file and not the other? Obviously the battery still works if the 2nd save is there.

You probably deleted save file 1.

I don't think you can delete the save files in HM for SNES. You just save over the old ones.
You probably didn't put the cartridge in all the way and screwed you save files. Had it happen to me plenty of times with other games

It just happens sometimes. It happened to me with Kirby Super Star. Slot 1 and 2 were both wiped, but slot 3 was still there.

Ok, I guess hearing that makes me feel a little better. I'll just be more careful.

My FF3 cart somehow still has my save from when I beat it in 1995, batteries are weird man
>>3317790
I have carts from like 1990 with working saves.
My LoZ2 still saves. And that was one of the first games I owned in the 80s.
I don't understand the CMOS batteries.
They must just need like a super minimal amount of charge and if they have even that tiny amount its enough to recall the data

The CMOS batteries should be fucking dead after 10 years.

Keeping SRAM powered only requires a tiny trickle of electricity, batteries can last for up to 20 years just doing that. If you have to run a realtime clock that will drain the battery in like 10 years or less.
