What are some retro games that featured visual equipment upgrades? e.g. As soon as you picked up a sword or a shield, your character's sprite would update.

I loved that game so much growing up. I dont think I ever got past the first stage though...
I also remember emulating the arcade version several years ago and realizing I couldnt get past the first stage on that version either.

Dragon View RPG, where when Alex picks up a new armour, it changes the sprite's colour.
Castlevania, Symphony of the Night, if it counts as retro, the cape colours can change
depending on the cape equipped.
Faxanadu, the swords and shields, as well as armour, makes a difference.
I know there are many other games I played with that awesome gimmick but I can't think of any other right now.
