No, that's Rockman & Bass.

Why would anyone bother faking the JP version of anything? The money is in selling to American hipsters on eBay.
>>
>>3309636
You can find so many examples of fakes online. Why are you a lazy fuck?

It's a fake. I recommend destroying your cartridge immediately.

It's real. Usually you don't see Nintendo marked chips on fakes.

It's called a Game Pak, I have you know

Do people even bother making bootlegs of nip shit?
>>
>>3309664
Chinese probably do
>>
>>3309650
theres no American version of that game.

OP considering the mask ROM actually has the real code for the game SHVCxxx my bet is its the real thing, take a better picture of the chips
>>
>>3309652
Because I'm new to collecting and there are people here who've been doing it for years and know their shit piss nugget.

>>3309657
Shit. Should I burn it or just throw it out?
>>
>>3309706
Microwave. It scrambles the data and makes sure no one can access the code ever again. I hear that playing a fake already takes 40 days off of your life (penalty to the gaming gods), so you will be doing the rest of the gamers in the world a service. The atonement is still gunna suck; I hope you're not too fond of your right testicle.

I'm a little confused, what are you trying to do in this thread?

Did you take this picture? Are you able to play the game, does it work? I don't understand.

I am spending my off day today cleaning as many SFC games as I can. Washing the outside, alcohol-ing up the pins, wrapping them into Ziploc bags ...

I too decided to get some cheap games and it looks like the inside of mine looks like yours. I cannot say if mine is a fake, but the game is pretty fun.
>>
sorry OP, you got fucked. It appears the PCB says SHVC-1J1M-20.
You know what that means...

Since this is a thread related to identification of possible bootlegs, I figured I'd hop in with one of my own.

Just got this from an Amazon Marketplace seller (located in china, of course). It was advertised as "Brand New" condition, with absolutely no indication of it being a repro. Normally I'd ignore it but I figured why not give it a shot, in the one in a million chance it's actually legit from someone who doesn't know or care about the full value. If it isn't as advertised I can always dispute it for a full/partial refund. It was a little pricy, but not as expensive as a guaranteed legit one.

Now I'm no expert, but while this does look nice, there are enough red flags to tell me it's a repro, with the fuzziness of some of the text and colors of the screenshots on the back. I don't have a high-resolution scan of an actual insert to compare it to but I'm 99% certain this isn't legit.

The back

I'll probably open it up tomorrow to check out the cartridge itself (need to get to bed now), but what are my options here? Should I go direct to Amazon or do I confront the seller? I feel like Amazon would be the party to inform due to the false legitimacy of the item in question, but I'm not experienced in these matters.

In the off-chance this doesn't work out, it's not an amount of money that I would feel devastated at losing, but I would like to make Amazon aware of sellers like this for future people who aren't as savvy.

Eh, might as well post the spine also. Not like it would totally shake things up one way or the other
>>
>>3311485
color is off, you can check the insert with a magnifying glass and compare to original. This is a proven method for AES bootlegs. I tested it myself numerous times.
>>
>>3311570
Do you have experience in reporting bootlegs to Amazon? I feel that's more appropriate than confronting the seller, especially if they don't speak English.

But I'm curious how the process works. Do I just click the button to file a claim and Amazon makes a deliberation? What would I need to do to provide undeniable proof of a bootleg?
>>
>>3310685
>>3310692
>>3311485
The flash throws off the colors, so I can't really tell. Is that a tab remains up at the, top though? On my American Genesis games, you can always tell where the tab has been torn off. On my Japanese Mega Drive games (including that one), it is not there at all, the top is perfectly smooth. The case is actually built differently. Something to think about.
>>
>>3311591
It still has the tab, it's just bent over to fit in the bag. I'm guessing that's another detail to prove its bootleg status, if all Japanese Megadrive games have no hang tab on top

Also I didn't use flash to try and prevent that from happening, just the HDR feature on the phone in a lit room, tried to minimize glare the best I could.
>>
>>3309706
Whatever you do, don't start collecting crts. HeIl, don't even visit the /crt/ thread. Also, don't collect CIB.

Your wallet will thank you as I speak from experience.
>>
>>3311871
>crts

Are not expensive unless you are trying to get professional video monitors. We've passed the point where you can literally find them on the sides of streets regularly, but there is no demand for them outside of oldschool gaming. I mean, the only other thing that looks better on them is interlaced video (VHS), and that's even more niche.

>>3311842
A quick google search seems to indicate that I'm right, and Mega Drive JP games shouldn't have them, except select late release titles, often with the blue lettering cases. MUSHA is an early release and shouldn't have the tab. I'd say fake. But hey, looks like a nice bootleg. No harm keeping it unless you try to scam someone else with it.

More close ups of the contents for laughs. It's funny how blurry the images/text is on these, I kept thinking my camera was out of focus when that's just how it is

Do Megadrive carts not have screws to hold them together like the Genesis ones?

The pins compared to my good Genesis repro. Of course they used the trademark super-thick PCB that murders slots instead of trying to reuse legit sega boards. Not sure if you can tell from this but the label isn't in perfect alignment and the edges are sort of peeling up
>>
>>3312364
There's the confirmation. The case should say "Sega" engraved to the left (bottom end) of the cart there. Definitely a repro case, and thus pretty much guaranteed bootleg card.

And that's about it. I think I'll try to file a claim with Amazon and see what happens. At the very least they should put this guy's account on watch. A partial refund would be fine, I'm not expecting a full refund but wouldn't turn it down.

Apparently the seller sent Amazon the wrong tracking number and it still shows as in transit. I hope that doesn't hurt my chances of filing the claim. I got the correct tracking number in an e-mail from them directly.

I did this the other day with ALL (over 1000) of my cartridge games. The atari fuckos are hell because the have to push that stupid fucking dust shield up, and the odyssey 2 carts are almost impossible. Why didnt everyone just make their carts as cool as the trash coco did? And is there anything better than ziplock bags I can use for my boxes? I still want to be able to look at the fuckin things.

If you're using ziplock bags, stop. They are not archival safe and will damage your games in the long run.

Ffffffffffffffffuck that. Also I don't collect "CIB" games, I have a collection of loose cartridges because I like to play them. If you have a better solution for loose carts than plastic bags please let me know

they sell for lose carts too just browse for all their items, i got some for n64 and superfam, 10 for $12 shipped they are prety good actually.

>>3313321
I am just using the Ziploc bags to keep the cartridge relatively dust/bug free and indicate which ones I've cleaned out. It is not a permanent solution and I throw in the little silica bags from other stuff into the big box. However, what do you suggest I use to keep them relatively dust/bug free. I am poor, so I'm just looking for an inexpensive option (don't say everdrive, I have those too for the clone console I have)

>>3312407
My Musha Aleste I got long ago (before every youtuber ejaculate into them for value) has a brown PCB. I do not know if mine is legit or faked either, but Mega Drive games has a label on the back which covers the screws, which I am unwilling to puncture just to open, so I only surface clean the pins with isopropyl and have yet to clean or see the insides.

I think I know the solution to this. Don't store your ziplock bags in a vat of acid
>>
>>3309636
Famicom carts are worthless and pointless to fake.
>>
>>3320046
But skateboards don't function the same as Porsches do. Unlike emulation on bsnes and snes carts
>>
>>3322104

No one wants to pay full price for a real game and just shrug it off when they are sold a fake. Fill your mouth with shit, staple it closed and run head first into a wall
>>
>>3322104
>emulation on bsnes and snes carts function the same as Porsches do
The opinion of emubabies who can't into English are invalid and deserve to be made fun of.
>>
>>3314012

I thought the whole point is to protect them when not in use, who cares how long it takes as ive seen shit already damaged from other people doing it. The bags used for sandwich and shit are transitory and not meant for long term storage. When it breaks down it releases chemical gas (some form of chloride gas iirc) which is going to make your labels yellow and potential plastic damage. It really depends upon the temperature, but they are not for long term storage since we don't even know if they ph neutral and probably acidic.UGC plastic covers have this problem as well but its on the outside not making contact with your game. Unrelated note, i've seen a lot of cards, even beyblades get fucked up cause of people storing them in those bags.

>>3313392

Those cases the other people link to are pretty good, I personally use UGC with a baggy for super famicom carts to prevent wiggling.
>>
>>3319879
>I am poor
>but i have a hundred imported videogames

cmon son... anyways, what i use for my super famicom is this, a dollar each for portecting your vidyas isnt much and these little boxes arte actually pretty cool
