I've just started my Super Famicom collection and have been ordering carts online. How can I tell the difference between a repro and the real thing? Also, general repro thread.
>>
No screws in the cart is a dead giveaway. Also, if there is no sticker on back
>>
On a related note, how good are ebay for refunding money you've spent on bootlegs?
>>
If the auction didn't specify it as a reproduction, 9 chances out of 10 a PayPal refund will cover you

The PCB. Open it and see if there's any globtop chips, a tangle of wires, or eproms.
>>

NVM I'd be careful about the eproms because I just remembered that prototypes also use them.

If you can prove it's fake, they will refund you with no further questions and request you destroy the cart since it's bootleg. here' the thing.. you could just keep it and they wouldn't know...

People say the seller will just say you switched the boards, but all you need to do is point out that the seller has listed 30 new copies of a game that's been out of print for over 20 years.

If enough people do this, the repro faggots will stop using ebay. They just buy their stock from Aliexpress and charge 2 or 3 times the price, anyway.

If you're buying repros, do it on aliexpress, cut out the middleman dickhead.

If the auction did specify, it likely wouldn't be live long enough to sell. Ebay take that shit seriously, and stop auctions with certain keywords even being listed at all.

ok
>>

Can you actually buy repros on aliexpress? Do they work alright?
>>
>>3301750
Does ebay allow the sale of explicit bootlegs? Like fakes made for the sake of distributing a game with a fan translation patch, or an announced repo for those who don't wanna pay jew tax for Little Samson?

Yes but some of the cheaper ones are low quality shit so beware.

Things to look for: plastic case quality, screws, label might be different brightness.

Back might not say Nintendo or SHVC-006.

Pic related, I have Rockman X (MMX), Super Donkey Kong (DKC) Kirby Super Star, and Super Gameboy 2 around somewhere too.

For the price they can't be beat, but you might as well buy a chinese everdrive for $50 instead of a repro for $15-20.
