Do any of you guys still play the dreamcast online?
I'm looking to set up dreampi soon.
What games still work, and are there even any people still playing online?

If I had the cable modem I would, but it's so expensive, and the workarounds are such a fuck about that it just doesn't seem worthwhile to me.

I used to play with members from onlineconsoles.com but then that Dreamcast died from neglect. Totally forgot how dial-up works so can't be bothered to get it up and running. I really wish I had picked up a BBA adapter.
Didn't even know it was possible to still play Dreamcast online, to bad the only online game I have is Chu Chu rocket, would love to play if I had some games and someone set something up
Online gaming with old consoles fascinates me. I never considered trying to go online with any until 7th gen.

You need to connect to a private server, but yes it's still running. I wish we could create a vr guild, but I'm afraid it's too much trouble to get running for most people.

Anyway, I recently ran solo through PSO version 1 ep. 1 on the dreamcast, and I've taken on every quest and boss except one (because fuck escort missions going to a boss fight).
Are the online quests worth figuring out the connections for? Or should I really just hop back to Blue Burst?

Seriously though, that's the primary reason I suggest playing later versions of Episode 1; Mome plays dead in those versions, leaving you to worry about yourself only. That being said, you actually miss out on 2 missions: the final one won't pop up until you've done ALL the others(it has Ash fight alongside you...very competently, I might add).
In closing: I don't think you miss anything but some cool weapons(cool, not game-breaking) by skipping the online quests, so if you want, go ahead and start Blue Burst.

I might try it then. I just want to say I've experienced all the offline quests, and if there's more locked behind this one, then I must. I do find it frustrating keeping him alive in the de rol le fight, but maybe if I pump my levels hard enough I could manage it on normal.
I'm still overly proud of myself for beating normal dark falz solo, I've played the game for years and always quit before getting this far.

That is one instance where grinding is almost required. I spammed Star Dews with him, not caring to take the time to cast Resta. I would recommend that you fight De Rol Le at around 38 - 40. That may be high, but it will, with Rafoie/Razonde spamming, and hitting with a good weapon, kill him before he does his laser barrage. If he gets to that point, Mome is likely done for, and you're fucked. When DRL does his tentacle smashes, at least Mome can take a hit or two of those.

actually, the part I really, really struggle with getting mome through is the criss-cross laser barrage he always does from the left side of the raft. I have a hard time guiding him through it, so it's usually over really fast. I'm about 5 levels out from 40 though, so I'll keep at it and maybe get lucky soon. Thanks for the advice!

The online community is nascent, but check out http://dreamcast.online/now/ . Kazade is working on something akin to xbox live, and there's someone else who has thrown up a PHP board with a bunch of chat and portal functionality.
