Have you ever felt nostalgia for an older game that you had never played before?
Mother did it for me. The sweet 8 bit music and graphics and the whole tone of the game.
I guess Earthbound too, to an extent, but I got more faux nostalgia with Mother 1.

Willow is fucking awesome.
Not exactly nostalgia, but i feel like i missed 50% of the charm for not playing in its time. You cannot experience the improvements in gameplay, graphics, music and whatnot. You cannot feel excited for the release of those games and talk with your pal about it. A new FF in 2016 doesn't mean as much as a new one in 1991.

I was going to make pretty much exactly the same post.

I been emulating for over a decade so yeah most of the obscure stuff posted here feels nostalgic to me.

I have such a nostalgia boner for old dungeon crawlers where it's just a black and white line maze that you traverse in first person, I've never played one though, don't even know where to start
Yes, because sometimes I think it takes something unfamiliar to take you back to a certain time in a true way
Like, for example I don't really ever feel nostalgic about Sonic games...cause I never stopped playing them, it's as much as the present as it is the past for me since any time I'm bored I just throw on those games, but other games from that era that I never played or haven't played since I was a kid will take me back

True, also because new FFs are garbage and those of the 90s were really good.

Happened to me when I played Deus Ex 1 for the first time a few years ago. It took me back to the glorious PC game feeling of the early 00s. The music was very memorable and the story was interesting and really hooked me right from the start.
My favorite track from the game, extremely eerie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb0M1fg9pk0

You must be thinking of Wizardry. PC or NES version will legit fuck the nostalgia out of you.

I feel more nostalgia for the early Guilty Gear games than I do for any of the games I actually grew up playing.
I guess it makes sense since the entire series is one big love letter to 80's metal and 90's anime.
One of the best ever nostalgia feelings is playing a game you forgot you desperately wanted to play but never got to.
I played Legend of Mana and whilst playing it I kinda imagined a younger version of myself playing it. It was weird.

i experience that a lot when a fan translation comes out and the game is really good
GBC Dragon Quest I-III, but that's probably just because I played DWM2 and they've got the same graphics.
this one nostalgia'd the fuck out of me and i never played it growing up
also system shock 2 hit me with "holy shit this is amazing even today"

That'd be impossible because I've played every game.
Revolution X. It looked like such a cool game as a kid(Aerosmith!), but never played it. I sure am glad I never got a port though as they all look terrible.
