What went wrong?

/v/posting at its finest. Can't wait until we get "what went wrong" with X3, X4, etc. So much originality.

>What went wrong?

Nothing. It's probably my favorite game in the X series.
>>
>>3289672
Not enough ZERO

The only thing that "went wrong" in any sense is the fact that MMX2's existence eventually led to the creation of MMX7. That's about it, really.

The soundtrack.

Flame Stag and the first two X-Hunter stages have cool themes, but the rest is generic and nondescript.

SNES X3 had a much better soundtrack.

I can't tell you how disappointed I was to find that the PS1 soundtrack was used on the collection. It makes sense, but I still hate it.
>>
>>3290416
MMX1's audio was kind of messed up, too. Some of the sound effects were wonky, and they removed the "Hadouken" voice clip.
>>
>>3290425
Yeah the BRRRREAWWWWWWWW whenever you used the Storm Tornado was pretty horrible. Luckily I own X1 and 2 for SNES, so I only had to play them once just to unlock Battle and Chase.

Wheel Gator has the best theme in the game though.
>>
>>3289672
Finding Zero's parts and the annoying randomly moving bosses. Not as good as 1 or 3.
>>
>>3290414
Well X3 was composed by the one who did the first Castlevania after all.
>>
>>3290414
>X3's slow, boring grunge
>better than X2's energetic OST

X's is the best still, of course.
>>
>>3290414
the theme for the Zero fight is awesome, it was the reason I never collected the 3 Zero's parts
>>
It didn't prepare me to become SPACE DUST in MMX4.
>>
I like the game. My only real complaints would be that some of the levels are a bit bland, namely Overdrive Ostrich and Bubble Crab. Sure, the bike is kinda cool and Bubble Crab's stage is gorgeous, but there just isn't much going on in either stage. Boring, straight, and short. Maybe I just need to replay them side-by-side, but I feel like X3 had much more interesting stages gameplay-wise.

Nigga the soundtrack is probably the best of the X series.

I can't remember a single stage from X3, it's the epitome of bland stage design.

The final boss.

>SNES X3 had a much better soundtrack
Just no.
>>
You mean, what went so right?
>>
I always feel like it has a really different tone from X and X3.
>>
Wheel Gator is like the shittiest boss in this game
>>
>>3290912
>hide and seek asshole
And then they tried to put as many of those shitheads as they could in X4.
>>
>>3290861
OCRemix had the best version of the X-Hunter stage theme:
