Where does /vr/ buy their retro games besides pic related? Are there any dedicated websites to buying retro games online, or like a Craigslist for vidya?

Already finished my collection years ago. Get fucked, millennial.

There are trade groups on facebook, search them up.

It's funny, sometimes people post things with ebay level prices but the community gives them so much shit, they usually take it down after 5 people or so call them an idiot.

I've heard some people use Yahoo Auctions Japan, but you have to pay a high shipping rate and middleman fee.

I think that can be okay if it's a particularly expensive item to begin with, the prices by themselves are much much cheaper than the western retro scene.

It amazes me to no end how contentious oldfags are on this board. Has Generation X always been this petulant?

It's literally the one guy, he's posted in almost every thread on the first page in the last few hours. Someone must have pissed in his wheaties.

Are there any mom and pop/small business type retro gaming stores out there? With decent prices? Or are they all overpriced reseller garbage?
>>
>>3286860
I have this one local store a few miles from my house that I bought Earthbound from for $25 back in 2009. Nowadays that same place is charging $80 for Super Mario RPG. I don't know what happened, but I'm sad.

With the current hype/speculator fad going on, I'd imagine that any place with decent prices gets cleared out pretty quickly by career resellers who have nothing else to do besides buy crap. And, if you do know of such a shop that has yet to be targetted, it is probably better to keep quiet about it lest it gets discovered and picked clean.

Been using eBay for 10+ years. The only thing that's changed are the systems I collect for - although DOS games always seem to remain affordable.

Garage sales are hit and miss, my last good flea market find was a ugly Genesis I payed a dollar for like 6 months ago and occasionally I can find a good lot on ebay.
Luckily I have a store near me that prices shit around but mostly under ebay and they get some cool stuff in every so often.
At this point, you have to wither be very lucky with finds or network with other people who are willing to trade or help you out if you don't want to pay market.

The ebay lots ist he way to go for me.

At least if you lose an auction you didn't waste your weekend.

Going to garage sales and flea markets is literally like going to a fucking casino. You either lose big, or win big.

I much prefer just playing my games on the weekends, and occasionally browsing for auctions and game lots.

Yeah, I really can't recommend flea markets to someone looking for exclusively games anymore. I only still go because I enjoy it even if I don't find anything game related.

Ebay lots have been giving me the best luck for a long time. It's more expensive upfront, but it's cheaper than buying everything separately and all the doubles usually go to friends or end up as trade bait.

conventions the rare times i get to go to one

knowing other collectors that you can trade with or who will pick something up for you they see at a good price and sell it to you for what they paid for (or maybe a couple extra bux at most which im fine with)

there's actually a couple decent stores around here that don't do Play-N-Trade prices, like I saw Sega Ages for $130 which isn't a steal but it's a good middle ground between internet prices and being so low that someone would just buy it to flip it on ebay

Outside of eBay, I get my games at local gaming shops, thrift stores, and various used media shops like Half Price Books or a local chain called Movie Exchange.
